We can’t thank our volunteers enough for the time, energy, and passion they bring to promoting the ship repair industry!
So far in February and March, we’ve participated in four career days, where our dedicated volunteers have been on the front lines—engaging with high school students, answering their questions, and sparking interest in skilled trades.
Nothing beats face-to-face connections when it comes to inspiring the next generation of tradesmen, leaders, and industry professionals. Your outreach makes a real impact, shaping the future of our workforce!
We want to give a big thank you to David Spinazzolo from Metropolitan Solutions; Ashley Smith, Joy Henderson, and Sam Overmyer of MHI Ship Repair & Services; Kendall Goodin of Colonna's Shipyard; and Mekiayla Melchon of Bay Metals & Fabrications.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of these events. Your efforts don’t go unnoticed! ⚓

We are proud to announce 2024's Safety Suggestion Award Program winners! MHI's George Myers suggested a simple but previously not considered idea with movable warning pylons. These are made of durable plastic with a heavy metal base that fits into the grate system that runs down the pier. They are movable for any configuration along the pier that we need and can be removed just as easily for passing vehicles and cranes. George and his nominator Jeremy Poole think this solution will help keep humans and machine more separated in a complicated work area.
George and his nominator won money and recognition for having the idea and for suggesting it to us! Thanks guys!
