Tomorrow is the day! We hope you will take a moment and share your love for TWS.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 3, 2024 is Giving Tuesday. Ahead of this important fundraising event, we share our sincerest appreciation for all who have given to The Williams School this year. Your support of our program -- and most importantly, our students -- is invaluable.
Today, our Little Hoots welcomed Carter S., class of 2028, as Preschool Teacher for the Day. His agenda included teaching our youngest Owls about the "Sweet Pickle" tradition and meeting with a representative from to discuss ideas for collaboration. Of course, there was plenty of time for play and enjoying a delicious pizza lunch. In Carter's words, the day was "amazing!" - we know the Little Hoots loved it, too.
Preschool Teacher for the Day was one of many exciting packages offered during The Williams School's 2024 auction. There is so much to look forward to again at this year's event. On the way to you via mail now...a save the date card for the 2025 "Into the Woods" auction (Saturday, March 29, 2025). You won't want to miss it.
Birthday wishes from The Williams School to you, Dr. Hedrick! 🎈🎂
A big thank you to all our guests who joined 7th grade today for the Guest Lunch tradition. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share a meal and connect with our students – your presence makes the day special.
Creative expression at The Williams Preschool includes mindful movement through yoga. Thanks to our talented Ms. Doxie, a certified children's yoga instructor, our Little Hoots enjoy a weekly wellness workout that helps them practice gratitude, deep breathing, and calming techniques. Namaste to peace and positivity! ✨🦉
6th graders are celebrating the benefits of the recent rain for their community garden! In less positive news, several kinds of pests have taken a liking to this space, including cabbage moths, crickets, darkling beetles, grasshoppers, leaf miners, nematodes, weevils, and others we do not see.
In response to this challenge, students used the engineering design process to design and build traps from upcycled materials to target these (non-mammal) garden pests. They had to consider various constraints specific to their target pests, as well as the challenge of live capture. Weather permitting, students will set their initial trap designs in the community garden this Thursday, and they will return on Friday to collect data.
Authentic. Engaging. Williams.
We hope you enjoy 2nd grade's Van Gogh raccoons as much as we do!
3rd grade canned food collection update! Thank you to our students for organizing, advertising, and executing this important initiative. Donations are being collected through this Friday, November 22, 2024 on the playground during morning arrival.
We appreciate your support!
We are thrilled to welcome Hannah S., Class of 2029, as TWS Chef for the Day! This exciting student opportunity is one of many live auction packages available each year at our annual school auction.
Hannah started her day by preparing a special Friday dessert of her choice for the school. Later this morning, she is venturing off campus for an authentic (and unforgettable!) chef experience. Stay tuned for more pictures of her day 👩🏼🍳
This year's "Into the Woods" auction will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Mark your calendars. Keep an eye out for additional details to be shared in the coming weeks.

In this season of gratitude and giving, our 3rd graders will be collecting canned goods to donate to organizations in our neighborhood that support those in need.
Collections will taken place next week, Monday-Friday, during carpool. Thank you in advance for support! And kudos to our 3rd grade class for their energy and enthusiasm for an important cause on this rainy morning.
On the topic of maps...
This month, Kindergarten is also exploring how and why we use them. Students collaborated to create a map of their classroom with shapes.
Did you know? It's Geography Awareness Week!
At TWS, map skills are a key part of our middle school social studies curriculum. From understanding geography to exploring history, our teachers are building students' skills to read, analyze, and navigate the world around us.
Today, students in 6th-8th participated in a National Geographic webinar facilitated by explorer and design researcher Nick Okafor. This program presented numerous examples of how maps are important tools for telling stories, identifying problems, visualizing data, and implementing solutions.
It is great to be a Little Hoot at The Williams Preschool! All before their daily morning meeting, students enjoy unstructured play, time outdoors, and small group projects with an emphasis on gross and fine motor skill development.
Applications are being accepted for academic year 2025-2026. Visit TheWilliamsSchool.org to begin yours or to schedule a tour and see this dynamic program for 3 and 4 year olds in action.
