Center for Research & Education in Quantum-Leap Science & Technology: Training the Quantum Workforce 06/14/2024

Our master and doctoral students are actively involved with The Center for Research and Education in Quantum Leap Science and Technology (CREST). This experience provides extensive research training, professional development, participation in national and international conferences, internships and intensive training in scientific writing and presentations.

Norfolk State University established the multidisciplinary CREST Center for Research and Education in Quantum-leap Science and Technology for development of new quantum based technology and for the education of the 21st century quantum science workforce with emphasis on the production of scientists and engineers from groups historically underrepresented in STEM disciplines.

Congratulations Olivia Royster!

Olivia has been selected as the 2024 USC SCA HBCU Next Fellowship. She will be taking a course at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts Summer Program. The course runs for six weeks and the full cost of tuition, housing, travel, meal plan, and related fees will be covered as a part of the Fellowship.

She is currently in the Media and Communications graduate program.

During this time, we will recognize our students by highlighting their achievements and providing enrichment events, workshops and other activities on campus and virtual.

We will end the week with our annual Graduate Awards Recognition Reception on April 19, 2024, in which we will celebrate our outstanding students.

We regret that our New Student Orientation for graduate students will NOT be held today due to the university early dismissal/weather and power connectivity. Please find the electronic handouts and documentation from our session via email.

Get prepared for Teaching at the Master's Level!!

Join us Saturday, October 21st starting at 10am for our Virtual Graduate Open House.

Hear about how the Masters of Arts in Teaching Elementary program is designed to prepare individuals to teach in an elementary school setting. The program is a career path in which students enrolled will focus on subjects (e.g., mathematics, science, social studies and language arts) to be taught to students in grades pre-kindergarten through five or six (depending on school district/division).

Students will be provided with pedagogical knowledge, skills and dispositions to effectively plan instructional activities to support learning for all school-age children.

In addition, the graduate of this program will receive a Commonwealth of Virginia professional teaching license and will be eligible to teach in public elementary schools in Virginia.
