Dancers perform researched, period correct dances while modeling the latest fashions of the era. Kat Nagar is the director of the Atlanta Historic Dance Company. She is a performer, teacher, and choreographer of historical social dance. As well as a dance historian, she is also a historical costumer and creates some of the costumes you'll see in performance. She was a classically trained dancer fo

r 17 years before discovering historical dance at Ga. State University. She performed with the Georgian Dancers for three years and continued her studies at Stanford's Baroque Music and Dance Workshop, and with Consort de Dance Baroque in London, England. She performed Mid-Victorian dance with the Stately Vintage Dancers and eventually took over the group when the director retired. She has performed dance styles, from the 1920s-1960s with History Now, Triple Step Studios, the Atlanta Jazz Preservation Society, Down South Swing and Big City Burlesque and Vaudeville. Kat Nagar and Chris Wilson formed the Atlanta Baroque Dance company in 1998 to focus on performances of 17th and 18th-century court and country dance. The company name changed to Atlanta Historic Dance 2010 to reflect the wider range of dance eras, 1500’s up through the 1960’s.
