A bridging ceremony in Montessori schools is a special tradition that honors students’ achievements throughout the year and celebrates their transition to the next level. Typically held at the end of the academic year, students “cross the bridge” from one stage to another. For example, in some Montessori schools, kindergarteners, third graders, sixth graders, and eighth graders participate in bridging ceremonies. Instead of traditional graduation diplomas, students symbolically walk across a bridge to mark their passage to the next. It’s a meaningful way to acknowledge growth, progress, and readiness for new challenges.

The Montessori toddler environment is filled with practical life lessons and activities. As they transition into the primary classroom, they continue to master practical skills that promote independence and confidence. A confident child is far more likely to succeed in higher cognitive lessons.

In Montessori education, we add a burst of color to learning even the intricacies of language! The Box of Grammar Symbols takes center stage in our primary and elementary classrooms, offering a tangible approach to grasp nouns, articles, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. Children connect each part of speech with a specific color and symbol, paving the way for a deeper understanding of language usage. Watch as sentences transform into masterpieces with the magic of the Box of Grammar Symbols!

Math in the tens place taught the Montessori way.
Prior to diving into understanding the tens value, students have been introduced and mastered counting and recognizing 1-9 and are understanding the principles of quantity.
This lesson is usually done on a work mat on the floor. We use our beaded quantities to represent the number ten. We reaffirm the tens beads and start adding them.
place one tens bead on the mat, followed by a second one. We count with them and se the two to the side by the number 20. Then we count 3 beads with them and move it to the number 30. Repetition is important to grasping the terms.
at 40, we ask the student to count out how many beads. We identify forty.
It is important to introduce this as a three period lesson. Check back in for more on the methods of introducing lessons to students.

Were you aware that your Montessori child can pitch in with household chores?
Aligned with Montessori Philosophy, familiarizing oneself with the environment is crucial for normalization. Engaging in the daily routines of caregivers is an effective way to accomplish this.
"So, how do we begin?"
Ensure the chore is within their reach. Use a stool to aid with dishwashing. Start with simple tasks such as folding towels and progressively introduce your children to different household responsibilities.
Which chores pique your children's curiosity?

Routines are the secret sauce to a child's sense of security and independence. In the Montessori classroom, carefully crafted routines empower little ones to navigate their day with confidence. From morning rituals to structured activities, each moment is an opportunity for growth and learning.
As summer approaches, parents can harness the magic of Montessori by creating a similar environment at home. Establishing consistent routines, offering choices, and encouraging self-directed play can nurture independence and creativity all summer long. 🌞 Let's make every day an adventure in learning and discovery!

Teacher Planning is crucial to the efficacy of our Montessori practice. This week our teachers gather in their classrooms and make preparations for the lessons to come. Planning educational materials takes time, and it is important to review the year while we look to the next.
Some of our students are returning to the same classroom, while others are moving up to a new level. This transition between classrooms can be a pivotal time of growth for students, and we pride ourselves on handling that transition through communication among our teachers and guides.
Curious about what teacher workweek looks like? We would love to share more. let us know what part of teacher planning you are most interested in.
