Foster Youth SITE LITE is a one-day commuter program happening in person at UCLA on Friday, August 18, 2023. We are still accepting applications for the Foster Youth SITE LITE summer experience; however, we are getting close to our student max for this program. If you know of any students impacted by the foster care system who can benefit from attending our summer experience, please share our flyer and handout with them. Please note that the student does NOT need to be transfer ready to attend and benefit from our programs. One of the goals during the summer is to build community with other community college students impacted by the foster care system and to seed the idea of transferring from a community college to a 4-year University.
Breakfast and Lunch will be provided. We currently have a tentative start time of 8 AM and end time 0f 5:20 PM. We will also have guest speakers, a student panel from transfer students impacted by the foster care system, presentations from the UCLA undergraduate admissions office, UCLA Financial Aid office, UCLA housing, and the Bruin Guardian Scholars program. We have also planned a few fun activities and a brief UCLA tour.
Our programs are totally FREE!!! We DO NOT have an age max. The only requirement is that the student must be registered at a California Community College and has NOT applied to transfer to a 4-year university. We do not have a unit minimum or a max. For a student to apply to our program, they must submit a CCCP Scholars program application and select Foster SITE LITE in the drop-down menu. Answer 4 short essay responses, create and fill out a UC Transfer Admission Planner (UC TAP) account, and complete a supplemental form. Please see the attachment on how to apply to CCCP for instructions.
Once students attend one of our summer programs, they automatically join our CCCP Scholars program for the academic year.
