My martial arts origin story is that, as a child, I watched Liu Kang run up a wall and kick a guy in the face in the 1995 film Mortal Kombat, and I was inspired to do martial arts! Actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who played Shang Tsung in the film, delivered by far the most engaging and enduring performance in the movie. He forever changed the character with his iconic performance. May he rest in peace.
