CHRISTINE COLQUITT THACKER
Christine has a B.A. in Dance Pedagogy from Butler University, (Indianapolis, IN.) and a M.A. in Dance Teaching Artistry from Wayne State University, (Detroit Ml). She spent her primary performances years with the Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre (GHDT) from 1998-2007. From 2003-2007 she was Assistant Director of the Company, as well as a Principal Dancer. During this time she also free-lanced with several notable organizations.
Her career with GHDT includes 73 repertoire pieces. She originated the roles of Mary Magdalene in āSuperheroā, Esmeralda in ā The Hunchback of Notre Dameā, Cat in āAlice: Her Bizarre Adventures in Wonderlandā, among others.
Colquitt Thacker was a regular performer with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She has performed alongside Grammy artist Sandi Patty, Tony Award Winner Beth Leaval, and Broadway Royalty such as Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz Callaway, Ted Keagan, Ben Crawford, and Nick Adams
Colquitt Thacker is a recipient of an Individual Artist Grant from the Indiana Arts Commission; a Creative Renewal Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis and Lilly Endowment; and a winner of the Center for Leadership Development Award for Excellent Achievement in Arts and Theater. She has worked as a Teaching Artist in Residence for Clowes Memorial Hall, Indianapolis. She has paired with Artistic Director of Martha Graham Company, Janet Eilber to teach dance outreach programs based on Grahamās
āLamentationā. Most recently her accomplishments include the research, creation, and development of The Sightless Somatic Ballet Practice Method, and the initiation of The Diversity Dance Festival to Anderson University.
She has earned the title of Assistant Professor of Dance, and Dancer Emeritus of GHDT, Carmel IN.
