In celebration of KWE’s centennial, we’re looking back at generations who shaped us into the wide-reaching educational nonprofit we are today.

By the 1950s, Kieve had a culture worth building on. “Aunt Harriet” Kennedy took over ownership of the camp from founder “Uncle Don” Kennedy. When Dick Kennedy took the reins in 1960, Kieve ended recognition-based contests and instead promoted self-reliance and experiential learning — driving philosophies for all KWE programs to this day.
