We found this BBC story about geoengineering — the climate-cooling process of introducing chemicals into the stratosphere to stop solar energy from reaching the earth — very interesting. If you know an eighth-grader who finds this kind of earth science fascinating he or she might be a good candidate for The Bridge Year:

Bundling up for The Bridge Year's Canadian winter tour! Director of Studies, Thomas Steele-Maley, kicks it off Wednesday in Toronto at the ISEEN (Independent School Experiential Education Networks) annual institute, then it's on to Winnipeg, Manitoba, for school tours; speaking engagements; and meetings with colleagues, heads of schools, and admissions officials.

The Bridge Year's Director of Studies, Thomas Steele-Maley, paid a visit to Loomis Chaffee in Windsor, Connecticut, to talk about experiential education, update the Admissions staff on TBY's progress, and visit his colleague and friend Scott MacClintic, director of the Kravis Center for Excellence in Teaching.
