A Message From The Adventures of Learning Academy 💜
We don’t typically address individual family matters on social media. However, because our center and a member of our team have been publicly identified in a post regarding a recent enrollment decision, we feel it is appropriate to provide some clarification while continuing to protect the privacy of the child and family involved.
First and foremost, we want to be very clear: Parents have every right to ask questions, raise concerns, seek advice from others, and contact Child Care Licensing at any time. We would never terminate a family’s enrollment simply because a parent expressed a concern, sought advice, or contacted/considered contacting Licensing.
Because this involves a specific child and family, there are details and circumstances that we will not share publicly. We will not compromise a child’s or family’s privacy simply to defend ourselves on social media, even when those details would provide important additional context.
What we can clarify is this: the decision to end this childcare arrangement was not made simply because a parent made a social media post or asked other parents for advice. There were additional circumstances and prior interactions that contributed to the decision. Those circumstances were communicated directly to the parent and have been appropriately documented.
A successful childcare relationship requires trust, open communication, and mutual respect between families and the people entrusted with caring for their children. We take parent concerns seriously. We listen, investigate, communicate with our families and staff, and make changes when changes are warranted. Sometimes, despite those efforts, the trust and working relationship necessary for a successful childcare partnership can break down, and the responsible decision is to recognize that the arrangement is no longer the right fit.
We also want to say something that is incredibly important to us about our team.
Our teachers show up every day to love, nurture, teach, comfort, feed, clean, rock, redirect, play with, and care for children who mean everything to the families who entrust them to us. Childcare is incredibly rewarding work, but it is also demanding work, and our teachers carry an enormous responsibility every single day.
Are we perfect? No. No childcare program or human being is. When something needs to be addressed, we address it. When we can do better, we do better. Parents should always feel comfortable bringing concerns to us.
But supporting our families and supporting our employees are not mutually exclusive. We have a responsibility to do both. Our teachers deserve to have concerns handled fairly and respectfully, and they deserve to know that their administration will support them while also holding them accountable to the standards of our program.
To our AOL team: We see you. We appreciate you. We know how hard you work, and we know how much of yourselves you give to the children in our care. One difficult situation does not erase the countless hugs, diaper changes, bottles, meals, tears wiped, milestones celebrated, lessons taught, and moments of love you give these children every single day. We are grateful for you. 💜
We genuinely wish this family and their child nothing but the best moving forward.
Out of respect for the privacy of the child, the family, and our employees, this will be our only public statement regarding this individual matter.
