Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. After being on the Nixa School Board for 15 years, I’ve decided to retire from the board. Thank you to the students who enter the doors of this great district every day. Your hard work and perseverance show in many ways that Nixa leads the state- whether that is academically, athletically, or the many other extracurricular activities. Thank you to all the teachers and staff. You are the “boots on the ground.” Knowing and taking care of the students’ daily needs, and often times, this has nothing to do with lessons for the day. You are often underappreciated by many, but your tireless work does not go unnoticed by your board. Thanks to the principals and other administrators in the district. I hope you have felt supported by me over the last 15 years. We might not always agree, but I’ve tried to see things with an open mind and from other’s viewpoints. Thank you to Dr. Kleinsmith and Dr. Loden. These two are the best superintendents to come through Missouri schools! You both were easy to work with and I appreciate both of your outside the box thinking. Thanks to my fellow board members, both present and past. I consider all of you friends. Even though we had many times of “intense fellowship” as one board member used to call it, I think we have always kept kids in mind when we made decisions. Lastly, thank you to my family. To my girls, you don’t have any idea how special it was to me, to be able to hand you your diplomas. Not many people can say they have done that, but that’s something that I’ll treasure forever. Being the kid of a board member isn’t always easy, and I thank you girls for putting up with everything and taking whatever it was that you had to endure. Thank you to my beautiful wife, Sheila. You have been my sounding board for well over these last 15 years, but especially during this time. I could always count on you to settle me down when I got “worked up” or you’d just listen when I needed to “vent.”
I hope I’ve left this district in at least the same shape as it was when I started 15 years ago, maybe even a little better. Thanks again to everyone who supported me over the years!!!
Go Nixa!!!!

Thank you Nixa voters!!! I would like to take the time to thank all of my supporters. Thank you for allowing me to place a sign in your yard, field, or place of business. Thank you for contributing to the campaign. Thank you for sharing on FB and with your friends and families. Thank you for the wonderful administrators, teachers, staff and students who make this district so great. Thank you to the best school board in the state of Missouri. I cannot tell you all how much your friendships mean to me. I want to thank my family. Thank you for putting up with me and this process for the last 12 years. Your help and undying love and support during these elections mean more than you know. Garrett, thanks for pounding those t-posts in the ground for me. Kayla, Morgan, and Lakin thank you for driving around putting in signs, for your kind words on FB, and for always defending me when things got ugly. Sheila, thank you for being my “campaign manager” even though you wanted to get fired a long time ago. Thanks for running the FB page which you know that if it were left up to me, wouldn’t exist. And thank you for being by my side during this time, to calm me down, to show me the high road, when the low road would of been more satisfying, and just listening to me. Finally, thank you Jesus for allowing me to serve this community that I love and want to make better. Nothing would have been possible without You.

I can handle the untruths about myself, but when you start making people feel threatened, especially my friends, you get my blood boiling. I’m so sorry Robin Bilyeu Rees.
————————————————————————-
This is what Robin posted yesterday what happened to her:
I assume you are not TRYING to make me feel uncomfortable.”
On my walk just now in my Nixa neighborhood…
Truck stopped in the road, running, and a man at the door of a an elderly neighbor. She obviously wasn’t inviting him in so I hung out (with my doggie) and eventually approached to make sure she was OK. She slid inside and he and I started visiting. It quickly became apparent he had a school board agenda and started telling me untruths about my longtime friend Re-Elect Mike Copeland, Nixa School Board. I kindly asked to end the conversation and he came closer to me and started spouting his “facts”. I tried to walk off, he followed in a way where I couldn’t pass. At this point I was exteremly uncomfortable and I said in my shaky voice “I assume you are not TRYING to make me feel uncomfortable.” He said he was not, I motioned my hand to show him his exit to his vehicle. Once he was gone, the tears flowed. He refused to say who he was supporting. I will say this, bullies do not belong on any school board.

Nixa voters, it’s just one week until the 2022 School Board election. It has been an honor and a privilege to sit on this board the last 12 years. In my opinion, this is the best board in the state. I might be a bit biased, but I stand behind it and I would love to serve the fine people of Nixa for 3 more years. There are many things that I absolutely look forward to each year by serving on the board, but I want to mention 2 on my mind this morning. One thing is greeting the kids on the first day of school. I always love high fiving the little ones with the excitement on their faces. The older ones, maybe not the same type of excitement, but they always look ready to go. Another thing I look forward to is graduation. I have so much pride in our school when I see a sea of red out on the floor ready to start their next chapter in life. Please consider voting for me next Tuesday, April 5th for 3 more years of serving on this board full of wonderful, talented, and passionate people striving to make Nixa Public Schools the best they can be. Every single vote matters. Please like/share this to help me get the word out.
