🚀 PTO Board of Directors Countdown: Day 11 🚀

T-minus zero! We’ve reached the final day of our countdown. Last but certainly not least, meet Sara Brogdon! She is ready to round out our incredible crew and make this space-themed school year a historic success. Read her board bio below:

“My husband, Dan, and I have lived in Nixa for 13 years. We're the proud parents of 1 incoming 4th grader, 2 rescue dogs, 1 ungrateful cat, and a sweet ball python named Linguine. I'm a SAHM and love starting my day in car line, seeing all the little faces. Your kids are amazing and I'm so grateful to be part of our JTSD community. I'm excited to be the 4th grade director this year and help our kiddos grow ❤️”

🚀 PTO Board of Directors Countdown: Day 10 🚀

We are just one day away from a full lineup! Today, we want you to meet Sara Jordan. One of the newer additions to our flight crew, Sara has been hard at work behind the scenes this summer! We can't wait for you to see the fresh perspective and dedication she will bring to our cosmic events this year! Read Sara’s message here:

"My name is Sara Jordan and I’m honored to be serving as the Second Grade Director this year on the JTSD PTO Board. My husband, O’Neal and I, have a second grader and kindergartener at JTSD. I work at Cox Health as the Patient Experience Manager for the system. This is my first year having the privilege to serve on the board and I’m excited to be a part of making JTSD even better!"

🚀 PTO Board of Directors Countdown: Day 9 🚀

The countdown is nearing the launchpad! Today, we are introducing Kate Alexander. With next summer's Artemis mission aiming for the moon, Kate is helping our students aim just as high this school year! Meet Kate:

"I’m a proud parent of two Nixa students, a 7th grader and a 3rd grader. My husband, Jared, works for Care to Learn, so supporting local students and families is something that’s important to both of us. I’ve worked in Finance at Jack Henry for 11 years, focusing on data analysis, and I enjoy balancing that analytical work with opportunities to connect with families and support JTSD in creative ways. JTSD is a very special school, and I truly believe in the difference a supportive community makes."

We are officially halfway through our countdown! Today, we are shining the spotlight on Andrea Shreni! Andrea keeps our PTO grounded, organized, and focused on making this a stellar year for every single student. Learn more about Andrea:

"Hello JTSD Families! I am thrilled to serve as Secretary on the PTO Board! My husband is a proud alum from the East Elementary days, and both of our children attend here - so this community truly feels like home. I bring a background in engineering and education administration, two very different worlds that have shaped how I think and collaborate. I look forward to contributing a strategic perspective to support our kids and school. And I love all things aviation, including Space which is our theme this year! So happy to be here!"

🚀 PTO Board of Directors Countdown: Day 7 🚀

Welcome to Day 7! Today, please meet Markkeeta Womack. Just like a satellite keeping everyone connected, Keeta is always working hard to bring our school community closer together. Read her story here:

"Hola!! I’m grateful and eager to be part of the PTO board. My husband and I currently have a kindergartener at JTSD, and our family already has strong ties to the district, as our daughter’s older cousins also attended JTSD. I spent 7 years in law enforcement and currently serve in the Army National Guard for over 14 years as a Human Resource Specialist and CBRN Specialist. Service, community, and supporting families have always been important to me, and I’m excited to bring that passion to the PTO while helping create meaningful experiences for our students, staff, and families."

We're asking our community to rally together. One of our wonderful Kindergarten teachers, Mary Floyd, was recently diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer.

She gives so much joy to our youngest students. Now, it is our turn to support her. We want to ease their financial burdens so she and her young family can focus completely on healing.

🚀 PTO Board of Directors Countdown: Day 6 🚀

We are officially halfway through our countdown! Meet Sara Fender, a vital member of our PTO mission control. Her passion for supporting our teachers and students shines brighter than a supernova! Here is what Sara wanted to share:

"I'm excited and honored to be able to serve on the Board of Directors at what I think is the best elementary school ever! My Mom went to elementary school here when John Thomas was the principal, so it's a fun full circle moment to have had 2 daughters be able to attend here. I look forward to helping in any way I can to continue to make JTSD the amazing place it is for all our kids!"

🚀 PTO Board of Directors Countdown: Day 5 🚀

We have reached Day 5 of our countdown! Today, we introduce Lisa Searles. Lisa hit the ground running like a meteor last year and brings great energy to our PTO crew. Here is a quick intro from Lisa:

"My daughter attended Nixa schools, and wanted my grandson also to attend because she felt that the Nixa school district was the best. We moved down to Missouri from Seward, NE in 1992. We moved back to Nixa, MO around three years ago. We have our 4 cats plus my moms 1 cat. As you can tell, we are cat people. We also have a Ball Python named Ziggy, she is around 5 years old. I like to read and do a variety of crafts. I currently still work, but I love being involved with my grandson's school (JTSD) as much as possible."
