When children are given meaningful work, they build skills, confidence, and a sense of personal responsibility to their community. On our farm, in the classroom, and on the playground, we expect students at BVWS to pitch in and lend a hand in caring for our campus and grounds—and, of course, we have some fun while doing it!

There’s nothing like a warm summer afternoon on the Front Range! At BVWS, preschoolers and kindergartners enjoy all the best the season has to offer during our annual summer program, open to current families. We spend the days exploring the natural world, listening to stories, playing games, and crafting in the shade. It’s a simple, healthy, and old-fashioned summer!

When children draw, it engages both their hands and their minds, lighting up neural pathways and helping to encode learning in the body. That’s why “worksheets” at BVWS are made with crayons and creativity: They aren’t just more beautiful, they are more effective!

When it comes to student achievement, research has repeatedly shown that there is nothing more important than strong and trusting teacher-student relationships. At BVWS, multi-year teacher-student relationships allow our faculty to work closely with every student, getting to know them as an individual and challenging them to bring their best to school every day.

Our campus farm is a living, breathing, biodynamic beauty, covering acres and acres of land near our central campus with flowers, fruits, and vegetables—and giving students a place to deeply explore agriculture, botany, and the Earth’s natural rhythms. All summer long, the farmers with Aspen Moon are working hard to cultivate a bounty of crops for the harvest. Join us to celebrate the changing season together at our annual all-community Harvest Faire.

The sun is out, the leaves are green, and the woods are beckoning us with their shady groves and quiet corners.... Hello, summer! Today, we want to wish everyone in our BVWS family a wonderful summer break, and summer camps, filled with fresh air, sunshine, nature, and family. It’s been another memorable year on campus—and we can’t wait to do it again next season.

A handshake and personal greeting starts the school day for every child in grades 1-8 at Boulder Valley Waldorf School. It’s a simple gesture, but one that communicates an essential truth in our classrooms: every child here is seen and valued by their teachers.

As the 2025-2026 school year draws to a close, we are celebrating our graduating 8th graders, pictured here on the first day of school last autumn. It’s been an honor to watch these wonderful young people flourish over the course of this year, and over many before it. We can’t wait to see what they’ll accomplish in the years ahead. Congratulations, 8th graders! Shine on!

It takes imagination and advanced spatial reasoning to successfully knit a pair of woolen socks, a project that requires several months and four knitting needles for our 5th graders to accomplish! It’s a challenge that teaches focus, planning, and patience—and concludes with a wonderfully comforting finished product!

Beeswax modeling is a highly tactile and deeply satisfying activity for children in early childhood and elementary school. Unlike dough or other modeling materials, beeswax must be slowly warmed up by hand and requires dexterity and patience to model. Through sculpting their own unique creations—like these lovely springtime creatures—children build motor skills, hand strength, aesthetic sense, creativity, and focus.
