Camp CedarView Week 2: Our kiddos learned about The Transfiguration and why it’s important to stay focused in Jesus. We had a visit from the Greenwood Master Gardeners, enjoyed sno cones from Calhoun’s Tropical Snow, and a trip to the Park and Rec Playground!

November is the season of THANKFULNESS! It’s a time to reflect on all of our blessings and give thanks to God. Unfortunately, this isn’t a happy and joyous season for so many- even those right here in 96. With the current issues with SNAP benefits, there will be even more needs in our community. My heart is especially burdened for children in our community who may not have much access to food if they are not in school.
Our pastor presented to us that 1 in 9 families Receive SNAP benefits. Each year, Cedarview does a food drive to benefit the Soul Food ministry headed up by Mrs. Lynn Sargent. This ministry feeds 54 families every single week and the low income housing complexes in town. These kids go to school with and are friends with our children. More importantly, these are God’s children who, through NO fault of their own, may not have access to food on the weekends except through ministries like Soul Food. This is an excellent way to be the hands and feet of Jesus and to show his love to others.
If you would like to make a monetary donation to this ministry, we will accept those and get them to Mrs. Lynn for whatever needs they have. At the very least, please pray for those in our community in need of assistance this holiday season.
