In September the CIS Animal Science class took a field trip to the U of M St Paul campus to participate in an animal science lab. Student participated in showing a goat, showing a calf, Beef judging, learning about sheep tools, shearing sheep, artificial insemination with real cattle uterus, tour of the dairy facility, baby calf physicals and reaching into a live cows rumen to pull sample of feed. This was a great learning experience for these students.

Wow what a great Minnesota State Fair get together during the FFA Labor Day weekend. The Nicollet FFA was represented well. We has Katelyn Soost with swine, Megan Soost with Rabbits and sheep, Taylor Wilking with sheep and Kinley Tish with sheep and cut flowers, Shannon Soost and Allee Johnson with goats, Jacksen and Ridley Wills with Beef. All did very well respectfully with showmanship champions in swine, champions in and reserve champions in rabbits, and placing in all class of species were right in there in the line up.

It was channel fest in Nicollet with Craig Morgan! What a night, the officer team and other members helped with the event. Serving food, overseeing the kids area and attending to the garbages. There were roughly 3300 people at the event!

County fair season is here, and for many youth in our area, it’s a chance to showcase months of hard work, from livestock projects to leadership skills.

Supporting the next generation of ag leaders matters to us. This year, we donated to eight county fairs across our service area, helping these programs continue giving kids a place to learn, lead, and grow.

Fair week is almost here, and we're still looking for a few more volunteers!

It takes a team of dedicated volunteers to create a positive experience for our 4-H exhibitors, and we'd love to have you be part of it. Adults and older youth can help in a variety of roles, including judge's assistants, ribbon runners, and even helping in the show ring.

Day 8 of our Italy trip (Sorry this is late!).

We are home finally but before we made it home to the land of 10,000 lakes. we had a day layover in Montreal!

Once through customs we boarded another tour bus for a tour of downtown Montreal, our tour guide Stacy shared with us that it is very expensive to live in downtown.

Our group was able to eat dinner at a local mall with lots of yummy options in the food court.

After getting some food in us it was time to go to the hotel for some well deserved R&R to catch up on the time change after a long flight.

As I reflect on this once in a lifetime experience I’m grateful to have learned so much about sustainable farming in a different country!

I’m also grateful to have shared this opportunity with some of my students and even my family! It’s been so cool understanding different cultures and the different ways of farming. It has given us all a real eye opener on how farming practices are different in a US.

Stay tuned to our next adventure it could be tropical in 2027!

The Nicollet County 4-H Fair is almost here, and we're putting the finishing touches on another great year! One thing we still need is volunteers to help make our events run smoothly.
