County fair season is here, and for many youth in our area, it’s a chance to showcase months of hard work, from livestock projects to leadership skills.

Supporting the next generation of ag leaders matters to us. This year, we donated to eight county fairs across our service area, helping these programs continue giving kids a place to learn, lead, and grow.

Fair week is almost here, and we're still looking for a few more volunteers!

It takes a team of dedicated volunteers to create a positive experience for our 4-H exhibitors, and we'd love to have you be part of it. Adults and older youth can help in a variety of roles, including judge's assistants, ribbon runners, and even helping in the show ring.

Day 8 of our Italy trip (Sorry this is late!).

We are home finally but before we made it home to the land of 10,000 lakes. we had a day layover in Montreal!

Once through customs we boarded another tour bus for a tour of downtown Montreal, our tour guide Stacy shared with us that it is very expensive to live in downtown.

Our group was able to eat dinner at a local mall with lots of yummy options in the food court.

After getting some food in us it was time to go to the hotel for some well deserved R&R to catch up on the time change after a long flight.

As I reflect on this once in a lifetime experience I’m grateful to have learned so much about sustainable farming in a different country!

I’m also grateful to have shared this opportunity with some of my students and even my family! It’s been so cool understanding different cultures and the different ways of farming. It has given us all a real eye opener on how farming practices are different in a US.

Stay tuned to our next adventure it could be tropical in 2027!

The Nicollet County 4-H Fair is almost here, and we're putting the finishing touches on another great year! One thing we still need is volunteers to help make our events run smoothly.

Day 7 continued headed to visit a French perfume factory. Then headed back to Nice. Some took a walking tour of Nice with the tour director, walked through old town had gelato and headed to the castle to take some aerial pictures in the harbor and the coast, some went to promenade des Anglais the beach and some went to do more shopping. Supper was in Nice at Oscars. The menu was chicken escalope with mushroom cream sauce and mashed potatoes and dessert was passion fruit coconut cake. After supper we headed back to the hotel but the bus dropped some off at the beach nearby and the rest went back to the hotel. Today was busy but had more free time. When we look back at this great experience of traveling abroad, and seeing the different farming operations-from a variety of sustainable farming to production-in a different country is unbelievable!

Day 6: we said goodbye to Italy and headed to France. Stopped at a road side gas station deli for lunch. We traveled for an hour to Nice via the Liguria region. The landscape is bordered by the Alps mountains, while the houses and businesses (lots of greenhouses) are tucked in the valleys and hills. Our first tour of the day was at an olive grove for an in-depth look at olive oil production where we were able to do some taste testing. As we crossed into France we got our first look at the Mediterranean Sea. We arrived in Nice and the views are beautiful. We had free time and went shopping or just hanging at the beach before supper. For supper we ate at Parrocchia Bacelega in Nice and was served Cordon- bleu maison de volaille au Comte/ Pomme purée, for dessert we had Tiramisu. This has been an amazing trip and we continue to learn so much about the food, the farms, the economy, the history the culture.

Day 5 continued after lunch we headed to Visit one of the Langhe castles, Castello di Grinzane Cavour
Great history how grape production started in the region. After the tour we headed back to our hotel for supper on our own. Some of the Nicollet group went to Maccheria for supper which had great pasta.
