As you are aware, the Department of Education initiated this year the FAFSA Simplification Act. This represents a significant overhaul of the processes and systems used to award federal student aid starting with the 2024–25 award year. As we are all well aware, there have been some hiccups with this since the new FAFSA opened at the very end of December. Yesterday, January 30th, the Department of Education announced that colleges and universities nation-wide will not be receiving FAFSA data until the first half of March with no specific date beyond that. Once FAFSA processing begins in March, students will then also be able to make corrections to their FAFSAs should they need to.
We know and appreciate all that is involved with the college search process and the importance that financial aid plays in that. We understand what this further delay means for students and their families and we sympathize with you as you navigate this new challenge. Our office is available should you have any questions about the FAFSA. We will continue to keep you updated on news related to the FAFSA and specifically financial aid here at Niagara University. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
