At Big Spring, being part of the Bulldog Team means being part of a family. 🫶

That sense of connection is exactly what inspired Janae Maiden to join us as an Autistic Support teacher at Oak Flat Elementary!

For Janae, what makes Big Spring special is how our staff supports one another, celebrates every student’s victories—big and small—and genuinely cares for our students, families, and community.

Sometimes, the right community helps you discover exactly where you belong. 🫶

Two years ago, Hannah Lorenzo joined Big Spring School District as a building substitute. Now, she’s beginning a new chapter as a Learning Support teacher at Newville Elementary School!

From the beginning, Hannah says she was struck by the welcoming atmosphere and the genuine care she saw among our staff and students. But her Big Spring story didn’t stop there. As she worked throughout the district, members of the Bulldog community encouraged her as she pursued her teaching certification and cheered her on every step of the way.

Hannah beautifully describes it as a seed that was planted during her initial interview with the district—and nurtured by the support she received from the Bulldog community. 🌱

Any new enrollments, address changes, or bus stop changes that we receive, bus transportation will take effect on September 8th.

And for Rebecca Howell, that couldn't be more fitting. Rebecca is returning home to Big Spring as an electives teacher at Big Spring Middle School, continuing a family connection to the district that spans generations.

💬 "I come from a long line of Bulldogs—both as former students and educators. Being a Bulldog myself, I knew I wanted to join the BSSD to give back to the community, love on a new generation of Bulldogs, and continue a family legacy of Bulldog pride. I’m happy to be home!"

We're excited to welcome Bailey Hausman to Big Spring High School as an English teacher! 📚

Bailey had already experienced a little of what makes Big Spring special before deciding to join the team:

💬 “I’ve been to the LBJ games over the past couple years, and I’ve seen the school pride. When I saw a position open up, I knew I had to go for it. I wanted to work for a school that prioritizes traditions and professional growth. I’m ready for a great school year!”

That school pride is about to mean a little more now that Bailey is officially part of it! 🐾

For Kara Cisney, our new kindergarten teacher, Big Spring already feels a little like home. She had the opportunity to experience our district firsthand while student teaching here. And it was the people who inspired her to stay. 🙌

💬 “During student teaching at Big Spring, I got to see firsthand how strong and supportive the community is. I was inspired to join the friendly environment to continue establishing my relationships with staff and students in the district, knowing it will allow me to be the best teacher I can be!”

Last Friday, our Administrative Team came together to put the finishing touches on preparations for the 2026–27 school year. From reviewing plans and coordinating details to making sure our schools are ready to welcome students, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes as we approach the big day!

And now, we're just ONE WEEK AWAY! 🎉

We can’t wait to see our hallways filled with students again on Tuesday, August 25 and begin another year of learning, growing, and making memories together.

We’re ready for you, Bulldogs! 🐾
