Four of the six students who qualified for the KSHSAA State Piano Festival performed the pieces today. Three received #1 ratings and one a #2. Congratulations Danielle, Duke, Gavin and Sabrina for a job well done! I am proud to be able to say they are my students!

I had 9 high school students perform pieces at the regional KSHSAA Piano Festival today. They walked away with six #1 ratings and three #2 ratings. Those that received a #1 rating will perform at the state Piano Festival on February 18.

We’ve been working since September! That’s dedication!

On to the next event! This week at the studio we will be choosing our music for the spring recital in May. We will also be having our third Performance Class here at the studio the last week of March. Busy times!

The NMTA Multi-Piano Festival this past Saturday was a big success!!! So proud of all the students for all the hard work they put into learning their songs, practicing with their duet partner and then rehearsing with all the others that had learned the same duet before giving the recital. It was GREAT!

I knew it had been a while since I'd posted anything on my page - I just didn't realize it had be THIS long!

The studio has been busy getting ready the Multi-Piano Festival sponsored by the Newton Music Teachers Association. Our studio has 37 students entered into the festival for a total of 19 duets. The event will be held this Saturday, March 2 at Tabor College in Hillsboro. This is my favorite NMTA event. I can't wait to hear the wonderful music that will be created when all the students of the NMTA teachers join together.

First performance classes of the term were held this past week, October 23-26.

Each student performed a piece they had prepared for the class. This is a good way to practice performing for others without being quite so scary! We then had a snack and played Screamin’ Match - a card game that reviews musical signs and symbols.

A nice break from their weekly private lessons.
