It was heartwarming to witness the enthusiasm of students at the Wellesley Middle School this morning for our presentation - ‘Hinduism and Bharatanatyam’. I was ably assisted by my senior students – Smita Rajan and Divya Rajan. The middle schoolers were brimming with questions for us and it was truly satisfying to see how invigorated they were by the content and dancing.

2025 Choreography Competition Winner Divya Rajan of MA (Bharathanatyam)

Feeling deep gratitude to the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival and my dear Guru Rhadha Ramanathan for the Nrithya Seva Mani recognition I received today at the prestigious festival. It was especially gratifying that my student, Divya Rajan, also performed today having won the competition for choreography last year.

High 5: Mass. student spends year in Malaysia as youth ambassador, gives back through teaching A Concord-Carlisle High School senior who spent nearly a year studying halfway around the world is now using that experience to give back to others.

I am very happy that three of my Guru Smt Rhadha's students - Sharanya Kumaraswamy, Arya Shekar Jocius, and Aasish Cherukupalli who currently train with me, will be performing at the Natya Samagam Festival on Saturday, March 14 afternoon. Their performance titled 'Navikritha - Renewed Purpose' will take place at 12:30 PM at the Plaza Blackbox Theater downtown. These wonderful dancers from Boston, DC, and New York have returned to dance after a hiatus of a few years. We would be delighted to have you at their performance.

Many thanks to Suman Adisesh and Sangeetha Prasanna for coordinating the Natya Samaagam dance festival in March. My students and I will be presenting 'Anvesha' - a compilation of new choreographic works that are born of collaboration between my sister, Sumitra Nitin Musician and Dancer, of Bangalore and myself. We are looking forward to this lovely festival.

I am honored and delighted to receive the Nrithya Seva Mani award from the Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival in April 2026. My deep gratitude to my Guru Smt Rhadha for her guidance and to my mother, Sujatha Vijayaraghavan, for shaping me into the dancer/teacher that I am today. I am also extremely grateful to the Cleveland Aradhana committee for the recognition.

Schedule for 2026 — Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival The Festival is, as usual, scheduled around the Easter holiday. For 2026, the festival will start on Wednesday April 1st and continue until Sunday April 12th, 2026.
