✨ Shabbat Shalom from the Gan! 🕯️🎶

One of our favorite weekly traditions is welcoming Shabbat together through songs, blessings, and shared traditions. 💙 There’s something special about coming together as a community to celebrate the beauty and joy of Shabbat! ✨

How much weight can a bridge made of straws and tape hold? Our students are finding out!

Working in teams, they built simple beam bridges and added washers one at a time until the bridges failed. Now they’re adding triangles and extra supports, testing again, and discovering that their first predictions don’t always hold up.

Building, testing, rethinking— that’s STEAM in action. Imagine what they’ll do next in our new STEAM Center!

Today, we came together as a community to remember October 7 and to honor the lives forever changed by that day.

We paid tribute to those who perished on October 7, those who were taken captive, and those who lost their lives in the war that followed.

May we continue to remember, to honor, and to carry their stories with us. 🕯️💙

🍋🌿 More Sukkot fun at Schechter! 🌿🍋

Our Sukkot celebrations continued with hands-on learning, creativity, and a little bit of pickle-making! 🥒

Our sixth graders took on a hands-on pickling project inspired by the harvest season of Sukkot, חג האסיף. They learned how pickling helps preserve food and discovered that famous pickle fans included Cleopatra and George Washington! 🥒👑🇺🇸

Meanwhile, our K–2 students took part in the spirited tradition of Hosha Na Raba by whacking willow branches (aravot) on the ground, marking the seventh and final day of Sukkot. 🌿

And of course, there was plenty more Sukkot learning, celebrating, and fun happening throughout our school! 💙

Sukkot celebrations are in full swing! 🌿🍋✨

We’ve been building and decorating sukkahs big and small, exploring our student-created Sukkah Museum, enjoying snack and lunch in the sukkah, adding some sparkle with glitter tattoos from our amazing parent volunteers, and shaking the lulav and etrog alongside our stuffies! 🧸🌿💚

And tomorrow? Pajama Day! 💤🎉 We can’t wait for more Sukkot fun!

Bringing the spirit of ushpizin (welcoming both spiritual and physical guests) to life this Sukkot! 🌿🏠

This week hosted a very special mifgash (peer encounter) as Grade 8 visitors from the Reali School in Haifa joined our campus. 🇮🇱💙

Our Reali guests led interactive trivia, bingo, and cultural games for students in Grades 2–8, sharing stories, laughter, and building strong cross-community friendships along the way. ✨

Our students are learning, creating, and celebrating as they explore the traditions of Sukkot! From building their own sukkahs and making beautiful decorations to getting hands-on with the lulav and etrog, there’s been so much joy and learning happening throughout our school. 🛖🍋🌿

🏐 HISTORY MADE AT SCHECHTER! 🏐

Yesterday, Schechter’s FIRST EVER volleyball team took the court for their very first games…. and what a debut it was! 🎉

Our 25 student-athletes brought so much enthusiasm, energy, teamwork and school spirit to the court as they faced off against Rashi. With our players split into two groups, they competed in a total of 5 matches and won every single one! 🙌

We couldn’t be more excited to see our students embrace this brand-new sport at Schechter. Here’s to the beginning of something special! 💙🏐
