When you use the term informed consent you are telling me that you have not been conscious about your choices and I cannot trust that you are actually interested in informed decision making. Informed consent assumes that I will consent once you inform me and informed decision making allows space for us to disagree. Consent is critical to autonomy.
One of the specific challenges of birth work and midwifery in particular is the fact that the standard protocols/rules/laws have a foundation of trauma.
Patriarchy loves blame and hierarchy. Something bad happened, someone had to pay... so a protocol was created, a one-size-fits-some rule was made, a punishment was set forth... Someone must be the police because people can't be trusted and women believe it (because of the trauma)...
Thus we perpetuate and perpetuate and perpetuate. 💔
We are NOT having a sale, because we never marked our course up more than it costs to run our program. 😘

Making birth transactional rather than relational will never provide a healthy birth culture. You can't grow heirloom fruit from a GMO seed whose only means of survival is to be sprayed with pesticide and herbicide, destroying 'competitors' instead of being in community with them.
