Underwood Gives Back: Cradles to Crayons Spring Greening Program
* Please bring your children’s unwanted/outgrown gently used items to UWD from 4/27 to 5/29.
* A donation box wiIl be available right inside the front door.
*Items will be donated to Cradles to Crayons in memory of UWD parent Bruce Kaufman.
More details on Cradles to Crayons:
This spring, the Underwood community is supporting Cradles to Crayons through its Spring Greening Program. More than 400,000 children in Massachusetts are living in low-income or homeless situations, and Cradles to Crayons works to provide children with the everyday essentials they need by leveraging the generosity of communities, families, and individuals.
This program also helps care for our planet by keeping usable clothing and textiles out of landfills and placing them in the hands of children who need them most. The average American throws away about 82 pounds of textile waste each year, and when fabrics end up in landfills, they produce harmful greenhouse gases.
How You Can Help
A donation box will be available after April break through the end of May. As you transition clothing for warmer weather, consider donating gently used items that won’t fit next season. Our community’s donation drive will be held in memory of Bruce Kaufman.
Thank you for helping us support children in need while making a positive impact on our environment.
