We made a partnership with Praxis Network - the best projects/internships in Europe!

PRAXIS is based in Portugal. Originally, the network was founded to offer opportunities for the engineering students, but now the network has grown to encompass the opportunities from many different fields. Among the 44 original partner universities, many were from the technical area, and the majority of offers came from the technical companies. The network of partnerships is still growing, and now includes over 120 universities around Europe. They are expanding to India, are about to sign a contract with Nepal, and plan expansion to the United States.

These days, now that PRAXIS has grown, there are still a lot of technical opportunities, but many more - including marketing, hotel services, tourism, in addition to traditionally technical opportunities in mechanical, electrical engineering, and even aerospace and space engineering.

Check out our The Huffington Post article about the collaboration!!!

Why edtech can’t grow as much as healthtech 11/03/2016

Our philosophy on university data management at TechCrunch by our founder Svetlana Dotsenko.

"Improving data access, usefulness and interoperability could go a long way in reforming higher education for the better. Fortunately, the problem of data sharing has already been successfully advanced in other industries, most notably healthcare. Leaders of educational technology could learn from their healthcare peers in establishing better data standards.

Let’s look at the issue of data access at universities and outline a few ways in which innovation could move forward."

Why edtech can’t grow as much as healthtech Educational technology is making a bold mark on the development of higher education. While edtech overall has seen quite a few successes in the past years,..

Starting the Year? Here Is Why You Need to Find a Mentor TODAY 09/06/2016

Best way to start the year? Find a mentor!

Our team has spent the last three years deconstructing student success and achievement and connecting students with the resources that they need to succeed. From years of interviews with students, their faculty, and university administrators, we can confidently say: one of the main factors in their success was always quality mentorship.

Mentors opened many doors for our students, starting at the very beginning of college. Monica McFadden met her future mentor, Dr. Robert Nerenberg of the University of Notre Dame, on a visit to campus as she was still looking for colleges. Dr. Nerenberg told her that Notre Dame students could get involved in research even as freshmen; “It sold me on Notre Dame,” says McFadden. “I was debating between two schools, but I walked out of that meeting knowing where I wanted to go.”

The Future Of Educational Technology: How Edtech Is Still Ignoring Its Biggest Market 08/23/2016

Our founder published an editorial on educational technology in Forbes today! We talk about the need for innovation around research administration and innovation at universities.

"The need for research innovation is arguably strongest at universities. Higher education is a vast market, in no small part due to the research enterprise. Last year, universities in the U.S. received nearly $70 billion in funding for research in science and the humanities, of which most was from the federal government. Funding for academic research is also growing rapidly internationally, such as in China, whose total research and development spending is now second only to the U.S.

Despite the scale of this research engine, technological progress has been slow to reach the mechanics of scholarly progress. Many faculty members report spending as much time on research as they do on administrative tasks. A commissioned review of the University of California Los Angeles pointed out that the university spends about a billion dollars a year on research but lacks a “formal, guiding technology strategy for research administration.”

Let us talk about careers in data science! Mathematics, statistics, data analysis skills are quite big on the job market these days, I hear questions from people all over the world (literally - from Cambridge to Kazakhstan) about the best way to apply their technical skills.

To learn about math careers, I asked my friend Alexander Isakov. Alexander did his bachelor at Harvard in physics and math, and then stayed at Harvard to do a PhD in physics, which he finished this year (congratulations!!) Alex has tried himself in many fields, to much success: his PhD focused on physical and social networks; he invented a medical device for surgeons and spun it off into a well-funded startup; he started a data science company.

For the past few years, Alex has worked on understanding the behavior of complex systems both in his role as an academic and as a businessman. “I have always been interested in understanding the macroscopic world; how we affect the world we actually see and consciously interact with every day and how it affects us, often without our knowledge”, he says.
