WHY MUSIC LESSONS?

Learning an instrument is about much more than learning notes, chords and songs.

Music lessons give students a chance to be creative, build confidence and develop a skill they can enjoy for the rest of their lives.

Along the way, students learn to:

• Listen and focus
• Develop coordination and timing
• Solve problems and work through challenges
• Express themselves creatively
• Build confidence through accomplishment
• Play and communicate with other musicians
• Discover new music and artists
• Experience the excitement of performing

At Parallel Sound Studio, we believe the best way to learn music is to enjoy making it. We meet students where they are, help them play music they actually like, and give them opportunities to take what they learn in lessons into bands, performances and recording sessions.

Because the goal isn't just to learn an instrument.

It's to become someone who loves making music.

WHY PIANO?

Piano is one of the best places to start a musical journey.

Students can see music right in front of them. Notes move from low to high, chords take shape under their fingers, and rhythm, melody and harmony all come together on one instrument.

Piano lessons can help students:

• Develop rhythm and timing
• Understand chords and harmony
• Improve coordination and finger independence
• Learn to read music
• Build confidence and creativity
• Create a strong foundation for learning other instruments
• Most importantly, learn to play songs they actually love

Whether your child is just getting started or already experimenting at the keyboard, we'll meet them where they are and help them discover how much fun making music can be.

What makes a great rock riff?

Usually, it's not complexity. It's identity.

Think "Smoke on the Water," "Seven Nation Army," "Sunshine of Your Love" or "Iron Man."

A handful of notes can identify an entire song almost instantly.

Sometimes the best musical ideas aren't complicated.

They're unforgettable.

THE NEXT GENERATION OF JAZZ IS IN THE HOUSE!

We love hearing this talented group of young musicians rehearsing at Parallel Sound Studio!

There's something special about jazz. You can't just play your own part. You have to listen, react, communicate and leave space for everyone else. It's a musical conversation, and these kids are learning how to speak the language.

It's also pretty great hearing horns, drums, bass and keys filling the studio with something a little different from our usual rock & roll.

Keep swinging, guys!

A drummer's job isn't to play as many fills as possible.

It's to make the band feel GOOD.

Solid time, Good dynamics, Listening, Supporting the song, And knowing when NOT to play.

Great drumming isn't about hitting more things.

It's about making everybody else sound better.

Learning songs is fun.

Playing them with a BAND is different.

You learn to listen.

Communicate.

Recover from mistakes.

Follow a drummer.

Support a singer.

Perform for an audience.

And occasionally argue about how the song should end.

That's being in a band.

Want to know a secret?

A ridiculous number of famous songs are built from the same four chords.

I – V – vi – IV.

Different melodies. Different tempos. Different arrangements.

Same basic harmonic ingredients.

Once you start recognizing chord progressions, songs stop sounding like isolated pieces of music and you start hearing the patterns underneath them.

Ever wonder why all those pop songs sound kinda the same? Well, it'...

BAND SPOTLIGHT

One of our favorite things about teaching music is watching the moment when something that once seemed impossible suddenly becomes playable.

Here's Army of Frogs working on Plush by STP.

Nice work!
