CCMAA’s Open House (which raises funds to support the Helen Gee Chin Scholarship Foundation) has been scheduled well in advance, as we will be celebrating two important milestones: 30 years of the Academy and 15 years of the Foundation. Please mark your calendars for June 28th.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with friends, and in this milestone year, we especially hope to see alumni, parents, and even scholarship recipients (please RSVP to [email protected]).
The event will include student and instructor performances, crafts and t-shirts for purchase, and raffle and auction items benefiting the Foundation.

This year’s award recipients were recognized at the Foundation’s table at the USKSF tournament with a giant check. Pictured (L-R) are Sifu Calvin Chin, Maria and Bonnie who sell fundraiser t-shirts and paper crafts (made by Helen’s mother) each year to help benefit the Foundation. Thank you to all who stopped by!

Calvin Chin's Martial Arts Academy will be holding its annual OPEN HOUSE on July 21st to raise funds to support the Helen Gee Chin Scholarship Foundation and to showcase the progress of its members. The event will include performances by our students and instructors, items for purchase*/auction benefiting the foundation, and afterwards, a ticketed fundraiser dinner (requires prior purchase for planning purposes - please email [email protected]). The Foundation was formed in 2011, in memory of Simo Helen, Sifu’s beloved wife and administrator of the Academy for 15 years, who passed away after a brief battle with cancer. The Foundation grants scholarships to college-bound students of Chinese martial arts. It was an opportunity to take a terrible loss and turn it into something positive. Scholarship recipients come from all over the United States, and our cumulative award total is more than $166,000 to date, thanks to the generosity of our donors and fundraising efforts of our volunteers!
* After a long hiatus, Mrs. Gee (Helen's mom) has resumed making paper crafts this year, particularly dragons!
P.S. Our 2024-25 application deadline is June 15th.
