MOUNT ALVERNIA ACADEMY is a private, coeducational Catholic School for students in preschool through grade 6. Established in 1927 and located in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, the school is situated on a beautiful four acre campus comprised of three buildings. As a two time US Department of Education Blue Ribbon School (2022 & 2015), MAA focuses on educating the whole child...academically, socially and emotionally. MAA is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Board of Education of the Archdiocese of Boston. As a SEVIS school, MAA is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students.

MAA was blessed to welcome Archbishop Richard G. Henning for a special Mass celebrating the Feast of Saint Francis and our 100th anniversary.

Students, faculty and staff, former faculty and staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends came together in prayer and thanksgiving, reflecting on our Franciscan roots and the faith and values that have guided MAA for a century.

During his homily, Archbishop Henning spoke to our students about following the example of St. Francis and St. Clare through kindness, compassion, service, and care for others. He reminded them that each has an important role to play in making a difference in our school and in the lives of those around them.

The morning included the induction of our 2026–2027 Student Council, a cherished MAA tradition, followed by a Centennial reception. Archbishop Henning then visited classrooms across campus, spending time speaking with our students and teachers.

Thank you to Archbishop Henning for sharing this meaningful morning with MAA and to everyone who joined us as we celebrated our faith, our Franciscan heritage, and this important moment in our Centennial year. 💙💚

MAA’s Cross Country team had a great first race of the season at Bird Park in Walpole. It was a fun afternoon as our students competed and cheered on their teammates.

Second and third grade reading classes celebrated Dolly Parton Day with a lesson inspired by Dolly Parton’s "Coat of Many Colors." Students listened to Dolly read the story and watched her perform the song, reflecting on its message of kindness and gratitude.

Students also learned about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and its mission to inspire a love of reading by donating books to children around the world. Through the story, song, and discussion, students reflected on values at the heart of our mission, including gratitude, generosity, and compassion for others. They ended the lesson by putting their creativity to work and designing their own coats of many colors. Thank you to our students and Mrs. Abbott!

What a wonderful Wednesday at MAA! We began the day with Coffee with the Principals, bringing families together for conversation and connection over a cup of coffee. Thank you to everyone who spent the morning with us! ☕

Later, our annual Admissions Fair brought more than 15 middle and secondary schools to campus, giving our students the chance to explore their options, ask questions, and connect directly with admissions representatives.

📚 Our annual Curriculum Night is an MAA tradition that brings families and teachers together to learn more about what our students are exploring and accomplishing in the classroom this year.

As we begin MAA’s 100th year, it was wonderful to come together as a community and hear from Mrs. Ferrucci and Mrs. Sully. Our teachers enjoyed connecting with parents and sharing more about the curriculum and the year ahead.

MAA came together this morning to celebrate the International Day of Peace with a beautiful prayer service led by our Grade 6 students.

We are so thankful to Ms. Carter and our sixth grade teachers!

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
