For Indigenous People’s day, we have created a campus Land Acknowledgment that will be framed on our walls. ❤️

“We respectfully acknowledge that Fusion Newton is located on the ancestral homelands of the Massachusett people, who have stewarded this land and its waters for countless generations.

We acknowledge the devastating impacts of colonization, including (but not limited to) violence, disease, dispossession, and forced removal, and recognize that our ability to work and learn here is connected to the loss and ongoing injustices experienced by Indigenous communities.

We honor the Massachusett people, their ancestors, and future generations, as well as all Indigenous peoples who maintain connections to this land. We recognize that acknowledgment alone cannot undo historical or ongoing harm, and we hold a responsibility to continue learning, to amplify Indigenous voices, and to act with greater care for the people, land, and waters we share.”

Yesterday, we held our annual Clubs Fair in the homework cafe! Our students got to explore the different clubs being offered this year and ask other students/the faculty club advisors about the club’s details! Clubs can also be started anytime throughout the year — these are just the clubs that are ready to get started now! 🎨🎭❤️🌲🎸🥁♟️🎲💃🕺🏼

We went to Treetop Adventures in Canton for our September field trip and had the best time up in the trees! We lucked out with perfect, sunny weather. It was so awesome to see everyone challenging themselves to try something out of their comfort zones, and to encourage each other! ❤️🌲🌳

Math classes at most schools are designed for the average learner. And for K, numbers felt overwhelming — the pace, the pressure, all of it.

In conventional schools, motivation often comes from external pressure — grades, competition, fear. But that kind of motivation is fragile. It exhausts students. 🥺

Real motivation comes from something else: knowing you have support. Knowing you can ask for help without judgment. Knowing someone is paying attention to whether you're actually succeeding.

When a student feels that, they stop pushing through obstacles and start solving them. And focus becomes possible.

Then he finds a place that gets him. That wants to know all the interesting, quirky stuff he's thinking about.

The relief a parent feels in that moment — when their child is no longer just surviving school but actually belonging — is indescribable 💜

We started off our Back to School Spirit Week with an incredibly fun “Music Monday”! We had so many great songs playing during the breaks between classes in the cafe, and SO MANY of us wore band/music shirts! Thanks so much to everyone who participated! 🎶

When a student struggles in traditional school, the blame usually falls on the student. Lazy. Unmotivated. Not trying hard enough. 😵‍💫

But what if the problem isn't the student? What if it's that the system was never designed for how they learn? One lesson, one pace, 30 kids — that's efficient. But it's not effective for every learner.

At Fusion, we built something different. One teacher, one student, one approach tailored to how that specific student learns. And everything changes.

Getting a diagnosis for your child can feel like relief and uncertainty at the same time.

Relief because finally, you understand why traditional school isn't working. It's not laziness. It's not attitude. She learns differently.

But uncertainty because knowing your child learns differently doesn't automatically tell you what environment will work. That's the second piece. And it's just as important as the diagnosis.

A professional evaluation is crucial. But what's transformative is finding a school — a structure, a pace, a type of support — that actually fits how your child learns.

Belonging changes everything. When a student feels seen, known, and accepted for who they are - something shifts. They show up differently. They take risks. They begin to believe there is a place for them.

It was an honor leading this workshop on The Belonging Gap across our Massachusetts campuses:

We shared stories, got vulnerable, and talked about the small, often invisible ways educators communicate to a student: I see you. You matter. You belong here. 💜

For 11 years at Barnstable Academy, Jeff has been doing something rare: he's built a classroom where curiosity is contagious. Students leave his STEM classes still buzzing about experiments and discoveries.

But Jeff's impact ripples far beyond his classroom. He opens his door to colleagues. Leads professional development. Mentors teachers. Organizes the school events. And after the bell rings? He's hosting game nights, building community.

One parent said it perfectly: "For the first time, my son does not hate science. And he gives all the credit to Mr. Conklin." That's the kind of teacher who changes how students see themselves.

Today, we announced our campus’s Teacher of the Year for the 2025-2026 school year! Our campus voted last Spring and we revealed the winner today at community meeting! Cameron is our STEM Department Head as well as our campus tech super-user and has made SUCH a positive impact on our campus in the 3 years he’s been with us!
