Sorry it's take me a minute to sit down after Oskaloosa. I just wanted to give a big thank you to every one that had a hand in the event. From Domination Motorsports(Candice, Kenny, Mike, and crew) to Stan, Cody, Cheeseburger, and Jake for inspecting and flagging as well. Skidloader drivers were top notch and on top of things. It really does take an army to do a derby. A big thank you to all the drivers that came. Saturday night the track was not even close to perfect with the rain that came in right before the main event. But most of you tried the best you could to get around.
With that being said this was my 25th year at Oskaloosa. 26 years ago we started in a corn field out side of my hometown of Reasnor and had 10 cars show up. The next year we were on the Travel Channel doing a huge show in Oskaloosa. Over the years we've done a lot of derbies from the state fair to derbies in Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois.
I have met a lot of great people and a couple of my best friends in Chad and Stan. Chad unfortunately has passed almost 7 years ago. Stan has now moved out of the state. This sport has never been about the money or doing it for money as I've lost probably more than I've made over the years. It's a sport I love because of the people who have always been there for me especially Chad and Stan.
Moving forward I want to keep the T-Bone/Chad Draeger derby going in Oskaloosa and I could still be involved. I'd like to keep the Lunatic Promotions name to keep going also. So if there is anyone out there that would be interested in possibly taking over in the next year or two please reach out to myself. My kids aren't getting any younger and I hate to miss anything they are in. Please note this isn't just Oskaloosa but for other county fairs as well as possibly doing even more.
