The boy in the photograph is Murtaza Ahmadi, from Afghanistan.

In 2016, a picture of him wearing a makeshift Lionel Messi jersey crafted from blue and white plastic bags went viral worldwide. His older brother had made the jersey because the family couldn't afford a real football shirt.

Lionel Messi eventually saw the photo and arranged for Murtaza to receive signed Argentina jerseys and a football through UNICEF.

Later that year, Murtaza met Messi before their friendly match between Argentina and Uruguay in Qatar. The images of them walking onto the pitch hand in hand became an unforgettable moment for football fans.

While the meeting fulfilled a dream, Murtaza's sudden fame also attracted unwanted attention.

His family later reported receiving threats from individuals who suspected they had financially benefitted, forcing them to leave their home and eventually seek asylum.

Male bowerbirds construct elaborate bowers made from sticks, which they use solely for courtship.

These are not nests and are never used for raising chicks. After mating, the female builds her own nest in another location and raises the young alone.

Males often impress females by collecting colorful items like berries, flowers, feathers, shells, beetle wings, and sometimes even things like bottle caps or pieces of plastic.

Many species have a strong preference for certain colors, especially blue, and meticulously arrange their decorations to create the most visually striking display.

The female inspects multiple bowers before selecting a mate. She evaluates the quality of the construction, the arrangement of decorations, and the male's courtship dance and vocalizations.

A well-constructed bower indicates that the male is healthy, intelligent, and willing to invest significant time and energy.

Dale Schroeder lived his whole life in Iowa and was a carpenter for the same manufacturing company for 67 years.

He remained unmarried, without children, and lived an exceptionally modest life, reportedly owning only a few belongings and driving an older car.

Although he earned an ordinary salary, Schroeder saved and invested carefully throughout his life.

Upon his death in 2005, he left nearly $3 million with a single, extraordinary instruction: to use every dollar to pay college tuition for local students who could not otherwise afford higher education.

His estate established a scholarship program that eventually supported 33 young people, later recognized as "Dale's Kids." Many were the first in their families to attend college, and went on to become teachers, doctors, therapists, and other professionals.

Although the students never met Dale personally, they later gathered to honor the man whose quiet generosity profoundly impacted their lives.

Many people hope to repay his kindness by helping others in the future.

While often misunderstood, opossums are surprisingly beneficial creatures in your yard. Their venom resistance is a remarkable feature; they possess a natural protein that neutralizes rattlesnake toxins. This doesn't grant them full immunity, but it's enough to allow them to survive bites that would be lethal to most other animals.

Their unusually low body temperature also means they rarely carry rabies, which is a significant advantage in areas where other wildlife poses disease risks.

Here's what's really important for your property: a single opossum eats thousands of ticks per season. While grooming themselves, they actively reduce the tick population around your home. Fewer ticks lead to a lower risk of Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses spreading through your neighborhood.

They also clean up carrion, fallen fruit, and household pests without asking for anything in return. Despite their hissing and sharp teeth, they are gentle creatures that would rather play dead than fight. They perform a cleanup task that most of us ignore, and ecosystems rely on them for it.

This image initially appears to show a massive rock floating mysteriously in midair, but the reality is far less enigmatic.

What looks like the dark underside of the rock is actually its shadow cast on the ground. The rock itself rests firmly on the surface.

The illusion is convincing due to the plain, pale background, which is easily mistaken for the sky instead of the ground. Without clear visual cues, your brain misjudges the scene's depth, leading you to believe the rock is suspended high above the landscape.

Our brains constantly use shadows, perspective, lighting, and surrounding objects to understand depth. When these visual cues are misleading or incomplete, they can trick us into seeing things that aren't actually there.

Nature somehow created a scene that looks straight out of Tangled. 🦎🎸

Indonesian wildlife photographer Aditya Permana captured an extraordinary moment when a forest dragon lizard perched on a branch, clutching a leaf that resembled a tiny guitar.

The rare photograph immediately brought Pascal, the chameleon from Disney's Tangled, to mind. Many jokingly remarked that the real-life lizard had stolen the spotlight.

Originally shared in 2015, the image has resurfaced repeatedly over the years due to its strong resemblance to the beloved animated character.

According to Permana, he waited patiently for the lizard to settle naturally before taking the photo. However, the image has sparked online discussions, with some viewers wondering if the scene was completely untouched or partly arranged.

Known as judicial duels, this legal practice was used in parts of medieval Europe when courts believed God would grant victory to the truthful side when evidence was lacking.

One version, described in 15th-century German combat manuals such as those by Hans Talhoffer, involved disputes between husbands and wives under highly specific rules designed to reduce the man's physical advantage.

The husband stood inside a waist-deep pit with one arm tied behind his back, limiting his movement and reach. The wife remained outside the pit and fought with a cloth sack filled with stones.

If the husband touched the edge of the pit or used his free arm improperly, he could be penalized. Likewise, the wife could not strike unless she stayed within the duel's rules.

These marital duels were extremely rare and reserved for serious legal disputes, not ordinary arguments between spouses.

😳 A woman in Hong Kong reportedly experienced sudden memory loss after straining during a severe episode of constipation.

Doctors believe the incident was caused by **transient global amnesia (TGA)**—a rare condition that temporarily affects memory and can sometimes be triggered by intense physical exertion.

With medical care, she gradually recovered most of her memories. However, she reportedly remained unable to recall a significant period surrounding the event.

While cases like this are extremely rare, experts say they serve as a reminder that intense physical strain can, in unusual circumstances, have unexpected effects on the brain.

This unusual story revolves around Corey Taylor, an American who allegedly attempted to deceive Verizon Wireless by faking his own death in 2007.

Taylor's motive was to avoid paying an early termination fee associated with canceling his cellphone contract.

After being informed of the potential charge, Taylor became disenchanted with Verizon Wireless and took drastic action, creating a fake death certificate in an attempt to convince the company to waive the fee.

Unfortunately for Taylor, Verizon discovered the document's falsity, and he remained contractually obligated.

The incident garnered considerable attention due to the extraordinary measures taken to evade a routine cancellation fee.
