Sharing with the public:
Our very own SNES 2nd grade teacher, Cynthia Thompson-Isenhour, was nominated by her former teacher for a contest called "America's Favorite Teacher." Mrs. Thompson-Isenhour, with the help of her friends & followers, has advanced through 7 rounds since March and she's currently 5th the quarter-final round (she's up against teachers from all over the world)! But, she still needs votes by May 7 to advance to the next round.
Mrs. Thompson-Isenhour is most drawn to this contest because if she wins the school receives:
*An assembly for all students hosted by BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY (valued at $10,000)
* A pallet of 100 Boxes of Hammermill Copy Paper ($5,000)
*$1,000 to use in the school's Library
*$5,000 for an Outdoor Reading Area and Climbing Wall
Mrs. Thompson-Isenhour also receives a monetary prize for her and her family (which will help her pay off medical bills for her and her daughter).
You can vote once daily, for FREE. OR you can donate and send 10 votes or more with the monetary donation. The monetary donation goes to the charities chosen by the America's Favorite Teacher organization.
Please strongly consider casting votes for these final 3 days to elevate Mrs. Thompson-Isenhour to the next round of competition (semi-finals from 5/8 to 5/14) and help SNES earn the school prizes that come with her selection!

A special congratulations goes to our very own principal, Mrs. Moseley, for being named Principal of the Year!!! 🎉
We also celebrate Amber Travis, who has been honored as District Teacher of the Year!! 🎉
These recognitions are a reflection of the heart, hard work, and excellence that define our entire school community!
Also recognized were our Assistant Principal/Instructional Coach, Tabetha Reynolds (also recognized for renewing her National Board Certification); our Classified Staff of the year, Tamika Howell; and our Licensed Support Staff of the year, Amanda Coffey!!

🌟 Little Read 2026 — A Stellar Experience! 🚀
Our second-grade students had an unforgettable day participating in the Little Read program at Lenoir-Rhyne University! This year’s featured book, Our Solar System: A Stellar Neighborhood by Stacy McAnulty, inspired students to explore the wonders of space through reading, writing, and creativity.
During their campus visit, students enjoyed hearing directly from the author about how she writes her books and where her ideas come from. Seeing a real author in action helped bring the story to life and encouraged our young readers to dream big and imagine their own futures as writers, scientists, and explorers.
We are especially proud of our Little Read Essay Contest winners! These Tigers wrote awesome responses to this year’s prompt: “Write a letter to a new neighbor or friend welcoming them to your neighborhood, school or community."
Way to shine, Tigers! 🌟📚
