About us

Mason-Rice Afterschool Program is a school aged afterschool program operating out of a Newton Public School building. We serve K-5th Grade and prioritize social and emotional learning while having fun.

We are seeking passionate staff looking to develop their teaching skills in a part-time recreational capacity in a fun team teaching setting.

The Mason-Rice Afterschool Program (MRASP) is seeking creative, energetic, and professional afterschool teachers for the 2021-2022 school year. MRASP provides a high quality afterschool program for K - 5th graders - offering fun, creativity, and the opportunity to develop and grow.

Do you want to share your enthusiasm and excitement with kids in a fun team-oriented setting? This is your chance to lead creative art projects, build structures in nature, play capture the flag, and bring your own passions and talents to the table while teaching critical social and emotional skills.

MRASP is a private, non-profit parent cooperative. We provide a nurturing and fun after school environment with a neighborhood-like atmosphere. Our daily schedule includes both structured programming such as arts and crafts, sports, science, drama, special events, and field trips, as well as unstructured “hang-out time”. We strive to promote the social and emotional development of the children by helping them gain self-confidence, positive relationships, decision-making, conflict resolution skills, and independence. We promote an environment that celebrates diversity and respects individual differences.

We are seeking applicants with
- Experience working with children in grades K-5th in a structured, recreational setting.
Afterschool and/or camp experience a plus.
- Enthusiasm, creativity, positive attitude, initiative, strong work ethic, and flexibility.
- Experience in planning and running a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, gym/outdoor games, science, & drama.
- Commitment to quality, growth, and the desire to make a difference for children and families.
- Experience in team teaching

We have 3 Day, 4 Day, and 5 Day Positions Open for the 21-22 School Year

3 Day: Monday-Wednesday

4 Day: Monday-Thursday

5 Day: Monday-Friday

21-22 Regular Work Schedule

Mondays 2:30-6:00

Tuesdays 2:00-6:00

Wednesdays 10:30-6:00

Thursdays 2:00-6:00

Fridays 2:30-6

Good Evening Everyone. Sorry for the delay in communication. We are still waiting to hear back from the city before we can announce anything. I'll keep this updated.

It feels too early to be getting this out there, but applications for the 21-22 school year will be live later this month! Check back in a few weeks for updates as we begin to put the pieces together for another fun and engaging year at MRASP!

Per the decision by Newton Public Schools, Tuesday, February 2nd 2021 is a snow day and MRASP will be closed. We'll keep you updated on Wednesday when we know more, but hoping to see you all then! -Team MRASP
