We had 5 Hobbton FFA members that participated in the Prestage Summer Internship Program. Their experiences ranged from Hog and Turkey operations to even one that interned at the feed mill. This is a great opportunity and if you’re interested in Animal Production. Be on the lookout when information comes available to apply to be a Summer 2028 intern.

This past week, the Hobbton FFA Officer Team had the opportunity to attend the North Carolina FFA State Leadership Conference at the NC FFA Center at White Lake.

Throughout the week, our officers strengthened their leadership skills through engaging workshops, built stronger relationships through team-building activities, and worked together to develop our Chapter Program of Activities for the upcoming year. In addition to growing as leaders, they also gave back through a community service project, helping pack more than 38,000 meals with Meals of Hope to help feed families in Bladen County.

They returned home with new ideas, fresh motivation, and a shared vision for making this one of the best years yet for Hobbton FFA. We can’t wait to see these student leaders put what they’ve learned into action as they serve our chapter, school, and community throughout the year.

What an unforgettable week for Hobbton FFA at the 97th North Carolina FFA State Convention!

Our members represented Hobbton High School, our community, and our chapter with excellence, professionalism, and pride. Throughout the week, they competed at the highest level, celebrated achievements, strengthened friendships, and experienced the very best that the North Carolina FFA Association has to offer.

We are incredibly proud of our contest accomplishments:
🏆 Parliamentary Procedure – 4th Place in the State (Final Four for the second consecutive year!)
🌿 Introduction to Horticulture – 5th Place in the State
🌸 Floriculture – 14th Place in the State
🔧 Tool Identification – 23rd Place in the State out of 69 teams and 1st in our region.
🥛 Milk Quality & Products – 18th Place in the State out of 79 teams and 1st in our region.
Our members also earned outstanding recognition in the North Carolina FFA Proficiency Awards, with three students placing among the Top 3 in the state in their respective SAE categories:
⭐ Jairo Escalante – Sheep Production
⭐ Logan Morrison – Agricultural Mechanics Design & Fabrication
⭐ Josue Sanchez-Medrano – Diversified Horticulture

While the awards are exciting, State Convention is about so much more than competitions. Our members attended leadership sessions, networked with FFA members from across North Carolina, celebrated agriculture, and created friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Congratulations to every Hobbton FFA member who represented our chapter at the 97th North Carolina FFA State Convention. You exemplified excellence, leadership, and service, and we couldn’t be prouder.

The future is bright for Hobbton FFA, and we are excited to continue building on the momentum of another incredible year. Thank you to everyone who has supported our chapter throughout this journey—we can’t wait to see what next year holds!

Congratulations to the Hobbton FFA Floriculture Team for earning 14th Place out of 33 teams at the North Carolina FFA State Convention!

Team members Yazmin, Summer, Angel, and Brittany represented Hobbton FFA well as they competed against some of the top floriculture students in the state. The Floriculture CDE challenges students to identify plants and floral materials, demonstrate their knowledge of the floral industry, complete floral design activities such as creating a three-stem bud vase arrangement, and apply mathematics used in real-world floral business operations.

This contest requires creativity, attention to detail, technical knowledge, and strong problem-solving skills. We are proud of the hard work and dedication these students displayed throughout the year and during competition.

Congratulations to the Hobbton FFA Introduction to Horticulture Team for earning 5th Place out of 34 teams at the North Carolina FFA State Convention today!

The Introduction to Horticulture CDE challenges students to identify plants, weeds, insects, diseases, and other horticultural specimens while demonstrating their knowledge of plant science and industry practices. Competitors must also utilize professional chemical reference manuals to locate information and solve real-world horticulture problems.

This achievement reflects countless hours of studying, practicing, and preparing. We are incredibly proud of these students for their hard work and for representing Hobbton FFA with excellence.

🏆 FINAL FOUR… AGAIN! 🏆

For the second consecutive year, the Hobbton FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team has advanced to the Final Four at the North Carolina FFA State Convention!

Competing against some of the best teams from across North Carolina, these members demonstrated exceptional knowledge of parliamentary procedure, teamwork, professionalism, and leadership to earn a place in the state finals.

Reaching the Final Four is an incredible accomplishment. Doing it in back-to-back years is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and countless hours of preparation these students have invested throughout the year.

Please help us congratulate Grace Harris, Lola Warren, Karyme Medrano, Naomi Villagran, Alison Garcia Alvarado, and Geiry Tomas on this outstanding achievement! We are incredibly proud of how they represent Hobbton FFA, Hobbton High School, and Sampson County.

Tomorrow morning, they will return to the stage to compete for a trip to Nationals. We wish them the best as they prepare for the final round!
