Mathematics is applicable almost everywhere in life, whether you are a physicist describing our universe through mathematics or a doctor making precise judgements and reading complex graphs, or just trying to figure something out. For example, we solve for X (or the unknown) daily, as we have some missing information to account for.

Basic numeracy skills can be applied in far more advanced concepts. For example, the computer you are using now is based on algorithms! The purpose of math is to have real-world application.

Skills math helps develop:

✨ Critical thinking: Math allows students to think about problems in more detail and analyze different possible solutions.

✨ Problem solving: Students spend time finding the right answer and students develop skills that help them find it.

✨ Examine possibilities: Mathematics enhances analytical skills by requiring individuals to examine problems, analyze possible solutions and draw conclusions.

✨ Computational skills: Math develops both basic counting skills and advanced computational skills. When thinking of math, think of physics which is extremely complex and so much left to discover.

✨ Patterns and repetition: Math helps individuals recognize patterns in different contexts, which is helpful in making predictions based on past data.

✨ Time Management: Math helps students make most of their time in the most effective way.

✨ Overcoming challenge: Math teaches students to overcome obstacles and solve difficult problems- there is no limit to the challenge math offers, you can always go higher and more advanced.

✨ Creativity: Math encourages to think outside the box. You can always come up with your own equations and find the solution. Math is very complex and there is always something new to be discovered, math has real-life application.

We are offering remote tutoring services.

We have been using Zoom since March 2020 and are offering remote tutoring sessions. When it was time to reopen our school in Newton, we found that only less than a quarter of our students would prefer to go back to in-person instruction. Remote learning became popular among parents as well. With all of the technology enhancements, the quality of online education is not less efficient than classes in-person. In many respects it even surpasses the classic process.

A good example of benefits of remote learning include the "Chat" feature that enables private dialogs between a teacher and a student during a session. This allows for students to ask questions anonymously. In my experience it is an important additional tool for the students, who hesitate to ask questions publicly and want more clarification. We learned that students ask more questions through this feature. In groups as small as we have in S.M.ART School, our teachers can manage some multitasking while handling these questions privately through "Chat" dialogs.

Small groups - no more than five students in a class.
The class is two hours, once a week.

There is one available space left in one of the current groups for the Calculus section, Fridays 4:30 - 6:30 pm.
