The food forest at Newledo is thriving! In just the past the past 4 months the combination of fruit trees, fruit bearing shrubs and perennials mixed with herbs and some annuals is really taking off. Some of the new plants we're testing in our microclimate seem to be doing well - the black current and black elderberry are bearing fruit, the Chilean Myrtle Berry is flowering and the guomi is growing, though not as quickly as the elderberry. Plus the volunteer nasturtium and chamomile are just exploding as is the comfrey.

Many cities are creating food forests in public areas to help meet local food needs. Adjusting the plant selection to align with the microclimate along the coast, we could have food forests throughout Lincoln County. Lets connect if you're interested in the possibility for our area.
