ATTENTION: Starting with the 2026-2027 school year the State of Maine has enacted a law that “prohibits student use of personal electronic devices for the duration of the school day, from starting bell to dismissal bell”. The intent of the mandate is to maximize instructional time and increase student engagement in class, decrease digital distractions, increase face to face interactions to build relationships with peers and staff and improve student’s overall wellness.
Starting this fall all cell phones, wireless earbuds, smartwatches and personal laptops will need to be turned off and stowed away from the first bell at 8:00am until students are dismissed at 2:15pm.
The High School Leadership team is working on the specifics of the processes that will be used for full implementation of this law. We will take into consideration and specific student medical needs or other exceptions outline in the mandate. In August additional details regarding expectations, storage procedures, and answers to frequently asked questions will be shared.
Thank you for your partnership as we work together to create an environment where students can focus on learning, build meaningful relationships, and fully engage in the Warrior experience.

Let’s take a moment to celebrate the tremendous careers of the Warriors retiring from Nokomis Regional High this school year. Lori Merrow, Kelly Burns, Sharon Gordon, and Bill Freudenberger have dedicated their lives to supporting students and colleagues. If you happen to see them out and about this summer, thank them for their incredible service to our district!

Mr. Viles and Mr. Hanish's Internship and Curation Class recently visited the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport to tour their photo archive center and digitization workshop. The Museum has been working for the last twenty years to digitize the many thousands of photographs that were taken by the Eastern Postcard Company and other entities in order to preserve Maine's history. Students were given a tour of the facility and were able to talk with photographic experts and learn best practices in order to continue their own work at the Levi Stewart Library in Corinna. You can visit and view the museums extensive photo archives at the attached link.

This year, five Nokomis students participated in the Monson Arts High School Program. Their work will be on display in the Monson Arts Gallery through June 5th. The show features poetry by Trushan Viles, Erica Kern, and Milo Moody, and works of visual art by Faith Mabee, Aili Tebbetts, and Azlynn Olson.
The Monson Arts High School Program offers a group of talented students from central Maine the opportunity to participate in a school-year-long studio experience on the campus of Monson Arts. This program offers two tracks: one in visual arts, led by Alan Bray, and one in creative writing, led by Dawn Potter. Both instructors are full-time working artists who guide students in understanding what it means to make a life centered around art, helping them hone their craft, build bonds with other young artists, and become more confident about their future as creatives.
Congratulations to these students on their hard work and creativity! If you want to check out the show,
