Hey, NES Hawks! Book fair flyers are going home this week, and students can shop Monday through Friday. Families are welcome to join us daily from 3-3:30, during Wednesday's Family Night from 3-7pm, or all day Friday during our teacher work day.

Every dollar spent at our book fair helps us get books and resources for our library and media programming, so we appreciate your support!

Drama Club Announcement!

Attention third, fourth and fifth grade families! If your child is interested in auditioning for drama club, please please sign and return the form that was sent home in your Tuesday folder. A parent or guardian MUST attend the meeting with each child AND you must have the form returned to Mrs. Amburn no later than October 4th for your child to be able to stay after school for this meeting. Our Newport Elementary Dance Fit kicked off today, and we are thrilled about this year’s program!
This year, our entire school is raising funds for curriculum instruction and supplies. Our goal is to raise $17,000, and, if you’d like to, we are inviting YOU to help!

4th and 5th grade families--do you have an avid reader? Are they excited to try Battle of the Books this year? If so, please attend our interest meeting on Thursday, September 29th in the library. The coaches will briefly discuss what the team will work on this year, meeting times, competition, and more. It will probably not take a full hour, but I have scheduled 3-4 to give us plenty of time in case folks have questions. Interested students need to attend, but it is optional for parents. Graphic novels are an awesome way to get those reluctant readers reading this summer! Check some out today! Remember—you can use your student number to check out books at any of our local public library branches!

Third grade families! If you have a child who was not proficient on the reading EOG, your child's teacher is sending a letter home today and reached out by phone to notify you. These students will take the Read To Achieve Test on Friday, May 27th, so please make sure they get a good night's rest and arrive on time tomorrow so they are ready to finish the year strong.

Second grade families, mark your calendars!
All of 2nd grade will be having a "Patriotic, Salute to America" Concert on May 4th at 6:00pm. All students are to wear Red, White and Blue and should return to the school by 5:45pm.
