Hey Artists! There's still plenty of time to participate in this year's Wet Paint², The 30th Annual Art-Making Celebration and Auction at Newport Art Museum! ⁠

This year, Wet Paint² introduces a new theme: THE SQUARE! Create within 12" x 12" parameters. Submit up to two artworks in any medium (painting, photography, or sculpture) using wooden boards provided by NAM. So register, create and donate your masterpieces by August 9th. All submitting artists receive a free ONE-YEAR-MEMBERSHIP to the Museum!⁠

For all you Art-Lovers, there will be hundreds of unique artworks, including "still wet" pieces, created by artists of all ages and techniques. Available for sale through a silent auction.⁠

The Museum School Mini-Exhibition series aims to provide insight into the creative process by highlighting emerging contemporary and Outsider artists in a quarterly series of art exhibitions.

Susan M. Matthews is an artist whose work explores the tactile boundaries between sculpture and drawing. The Shapes I’m In presents a series of Susan’s collage drawings: delicate slices of watercolor paper sewn together into buoyant forms which highlight her playful process and her intuitive use of materials. Susan is also the founder of OVERLAP
a new artist-run exhibition space, retail store and art studio opening in Newport in February 2023.

Robert Stengel (American, b. 1945) is a contemporary painter from Jamestown, Rhode Island, who collects maps and meticulously covers them with vibrant dots of color. Robert’s individual dots celebrate the joy of being, while the shimmering patterns they create recall feelings of boundlessness and freedom. Robert has been painting since 2007, and is currently an artist member of the Out of the Box Studio and Gallery in Jamestown, where his work is exhibited regularly.
