Ms. Vause's 1st Grade Classroom

I hope everyone enjoys their summer! Please continue to have your child read 20 minutes a day so that they'll be ready for 2nd grade in the fall. Newport News Libraries have a great summer reading program where kids can earn weekly prizes as they read!

Thank you to Mrs. Gillespie for doing a great job taking over the classroom in the 4th quarter, and also a great job with all the end-of-year paperwork and closing out the classroom!

I wanted to let everyone know that I will not be at Epes next year because I am transferring to Marshall Early Learning Center in the fall. Early childhood education is a passion of mine so this was an opportunity that I did not want to pass up. But I absolutely loved working with your first graders this year and will miss them very much, and I know they will be in good hands next year with the Epes second-grade teachers.

Field Day Fun

Happy Last Day of school! It's Field Day. Please do not send your child with a back pack to school!! They cannot have anything in the bus except their report card. Thank you! And have a Happy Summer.

Last day of 4th grade reading buddies. 1st graders preformed their favorite fluency poems to students. Spent time reading and doing a word search game with their buddy.

Dominic had some great helpers while I was in to assist with paperwork today. ❤️

Remember tomorrow is a Pajama Day as the kids celebrate their end-of-year party at 10:30! 😄

It was so good to see these wonderful kiddos yesterday! They were so sweet with Baby Dominic, who is now 6 weeks old. Looking forward to another visit or two before the end of the school year :)

Cinco De Mayo Celebration today! Each student got to wear necklaces, enjoyed mariachi music, chips and salsa and cupcakes for Mrs. Gillespie's birthday. It was a fun day!

Good Afternoon Parents! Report cards have arrived and will be in your child's agenda. Please do not forget to check it. Just a quick reminder as well photos have arrived and were sent home Friday.

Parents I wanted to let you know that due to the projected rain our Safe House field trip has been postponed until Thursday April 16th. Tomorrow's resource is P.E. So please remember to have your child wear tennis shoes!
