πβ¨ Jenkins Authors Become Published Authors! β¨π
We are proud to celebrate the publication of our very first student-written book, How to Be a First Grader! π
Written and illustrated by members of our First Grade Sunny Smiles group and friends, with the support of Mrs. Shepard, this special book is filled with helpful advice, encouragement, and tips for success in school. β€οΈπ
Today, our young authors proudly visited Kindergarten and First Grade classrooms, as well as staff members throughout the building, to present copies of their published work. Seeing students share their creativity, leadership, and accomplishments with others was truly inspiring! π
This achievement began earlier this year when the Sunny Smiles group wrote, acted in, and produced an anti-bullying video for the NNPS Youth Development Departmentβs STAND Month campaign. Their hard work earned them the winning prize, and they chose to use those funds to bring their book to life! ππ¬β‘οΈπ
A special thank you to Mrs. Shepard, Ms. Brown, and the NNPS Youth Development for supporting our students and helping make this incredible opportunity possible.
We are so proud of these young Jaguars for their creativity, leadership, teamwork, and dedication. Congratulations, authors! πππ

π’π§ Jenkins Students Take on the Shore to Store Engineering Challenge! π§π’
A team of Jenkins students recently represented our school at the 2026 Shore to Store Engineering Design Challenge, where they put their STEM skills to the test through hands-on engineering and problem-solving activities inspired by the operations of the Port of Virginia.
Students worked together to design, build, test, and improve a cargo crane capable of moving shipping containers throughout a model container yard. Along the way, they demonstrated creativity, teamwork, perseverance, and critical thinking while applying real-world engineering concepts.

ππ A special moment for our 5th graders! ππ
As the school year begins to wind down, one of our 5th grade classes had the opportunity to gather under the parachute and share a moment together as they prepare for the transition to middle school.
There was plenty of laughter, conversation, and smiles as students reflected on their elementary school journey and the memories theyβve made along the way. Sometimes the simplest activities create the moments students remember most.
We are so proud of our 5th grade Jaguars and all they have accomplished this year. The future is bright, and we canβt wait to see all they do next! πππ

ππ Today at Jenkins Elementary, we had a little role reversal fun with βDress Like a Teacher Dayβ and βDress Like a Student Day!β
Our students did an amazing job transforming into their favorite teachers with lanyards, coffee cups, dress clothes, classroom pointers, and even teacher attitudes to match! Meanwhile, our staff had just as much fun dressing like students with backpacks, colorful outfits, and lots of school spirit.
From future principals and classroom teachers to mini versions of some of our favorite staff members, the creativity today was absolutely incredible. Most importantly, the smiles and laughter throughout the building reminded us how special our Jenkins family truly is. ππ
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make today such a fun and memorable experience!
