After Warsaw I decided to take the slower route home via Nappanee, IN to visit its station in service from the day after Warsaw closed in 1990 until the Three Rivers was discontinued on March 7, 2005. This town is deep in Amish Country so I bet it had a lot more ridership than a town of 7,000 would normally have.
It still has a pointless arrow Amtrak sign, and painted yellow line, 20 years after the last train stopped (I know there was a ceremony reopening the depot waiting room in 2002).

I am presently in Warsaw, Indiana. I just made a visit to its Amtrak Station. Last trains November, 11, 1990. You can still made out the Blue Amtrak sign with Warsaw, IN on it, although the Amtrak logo is long gone!

I'm currently on a little Amtrak primarily getting more Stations adventure and my train this morning has the sad site of a Sightseer Lounge being used just as an axel count car (thanks CN). What route do you think Im riding? Buissiness class is also a joke.

I just got the SEPTA Wilmington/Newark Line up on the SubwayNut.
I'm particularly proud of finding photos I took of SEPTA's only ALP-44 (that it got in a settlement for delivery delays for the new Norristown High Speed Line cars). Most of SEPTA trains are Multiple-Units but they run a few rush-hour Expresses with push-pull cars and today exclusively ACS-64 Locomotives (the only other agency to operate these other than Amtrak).

The SEPTA Cynwyd Line is now on the SubwayNut (well perhaps I should be announcing just 30th Street and Surburban Station instead). What's your favorite under-appreciated rail line?

Last week I already found myself in the DC area - was planning to spend a couple days doing the Washington Metro for the SubwayNut and took a little detour at the last minute down to Newport News, Virgina to ride the last train into the old AmStation (daytime picture taken after the station had perminately closed) and first daytime train out of the new "Transportation Center" out by the airport that I nearly missed because my city bus was running a half-hour late after making a daytime visit to the old station closer to the city center. Lots of photos now up on the SubwayNut website!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting the Chicago 'L's newest, just 3 days old station at Damen (Green Line)! I was quite impressed by its visual architecture (and took over 900 photos which I ended down to just 140) so many neat angles! There are all in a nearly real time update to the SubwayNut

I recently got back from a short trip to Alaska and rode two of the Alaska Railroad's amazing trains.
I saw Moose, Baby Moose, Bears and more out both the side and at certain moments front of the train windows, ventured through the longest combined shared singe-track/single lane rail and vehicle tunnel, and spent twelve hours enjoying 360 degree views from a 1950s Budd Dome car all on the cheapest Adventure Class Alaska Railroad tickets. There is an all new section (just visit my homepage) of this railroad's super unique stations and stops on SubwayNut.com.

I just got AirTrain JFK up on the SubwayNut. I have lots of feelings about the AirTrain, it's New York's most expensive (for some trips) or completely free (if you take the bus into the airport) transit line. It is also the largest automated rail system on the US mainland and its extremely infrequent service gives automated Metro lines a bad rap in my opinion. Enjoy these never released photos I found in my archive of AirTrain stopping outside the PanAm Worldport just before it was closed in 2013 and demolished.

Is the SIR (express and local variants) a subway line? If it is does that make Arthur Kill the newest "subway" station? (opened 3 weeks after Phase 1 of the Second Avenue Subway). All SIR Stations including Atlantic and Nassau are now up on the SubwayNut!
