Great footage of Flyer, which later became Alaska Eagle.

Brad says it well.
Remember trusty boat, beautiful ports and great friends I took a last stroll around the deck of Alaska Eagle today. Every step, every hand rail felt familiar, as they do after finishing a long voyage.

Circle of life ... Alaska Eagle will return to her native Holland. I can't think of a better place for her to go. Good voyages to all of you who joined us over the years. Her slip may be empty but the memories are full.

Who sailed with Lydia? Here's a note from her. Find her at the reunion.
From 1983 to 1991, I voyaged as far north as Glacier Bay and as far south as the Marquesas as first mate on Alaska Eagle—some of the best adventures of my life. I bought my own boat in 1992 (an S&S design, of course), sailed her to Europe and back (more great adventures), and sold her in 2006. In 2010, I was honored to be invited back aboard the Eagle (after 19 years!) for Leg 1 from Newport Beach to Rapa Nui. These days, I’m more likely to go hiking than sailing, and my sextant gets used for the likes of the transit of Venus, but my miles on Alaska Eagle shaped me, and I’m grateful.
