La French Cinémathèque is a celebration of Francophone cinema offering a curated selection of monthly films, sponsored by One Film One Federation in collaboration with Telescope Film. For our upcoming session, we will be diving into "L'Origine du mal" (The Origin of Evil) from 2022, by Sébastien Marnier. The film follows Stéphane, a 45-year-old worker at a fish cannery in Fos-sur-Mer, who finally dares to reconnect with Serge, the father she has hardly ever known. The reunion is overwhelming, but with Serge aging, Stéphane doesn't want to waste any more time, and she quickly agrees to meet her family. We invite you to watch the film via streaming before joining Peter Debruge, Chief Film Critic of Variety, for an engaging hosted discussion on this compelling film.
