an elementary, middle and high school counselor and independent educational consultant, Karen Curreri and her team of experts help students plan out their academic journey. From testing preparation and efficient curriculum scheduling, to choosing the right extracurricular, summer and athletic activities that will help each student as an individual and contribute to his or her community, Karen and her team will find the right path for your student's future. Through a highly personalized approach, the CEC team will:
(a) Counsel each student and develop a list of colleges/schools/programs that best match his/her skill level, goals, interests and family budget
(b) Assist student in choosing essay topics. Maximize portrayal of students' unique traits and life experiences
(c) Conceptualize, revise and edit student's personal statements, and short answer responses, review potential writing samples for summer programs, contests and college applications
(d) Review students' course-load, activities, and community participation and make recommendations according to students' goals. Draft and edit student's resume, which may involve craftily explaining any unique circumstances which may give the student a competitive edge
(e) Incorporate as appropriate, additional supplementary materials to demonstrate student's unique talents or special needs
(f) Assist students with evaluative testing and accommodations by providing referrals to specialists and/or tutors as applicable
(g) Discuss letters of recommendation and application strategy and timing
(h) Help guide athletes through the recruiting process
