Faculty Spotlight: Welcome (Back), Hawks!

We’re excited to spotlight some familiar faces! Some of these Hawks spent part of last year with us and are now back for their first full year. Others are returning after a little time away, and we are so happy to welcome them back.

We’re excited to shine a spotlight on Sarah Ortega, who has joined the Heritage family this school year!

With 31 years of experience teaching Spanish in Georgia public schools, Sarah brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to the classroom. Throughout her career, she has taught Spanish I through AP, as well as middle school Spanish. Sarah holds bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and International Economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and spent a year studying at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. She also earned a master’s degree in Spanish Education from Georgia State University.

For 17 years, Sarah served as the World Language Department Chairperson at her previous school, where she oversaw curriculum development and quality while fostering a collaborative, problem-solving environment. Sarah loves using stories to engage her students and is enjoying her first year at The Heritage School. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading, theater, travel, and making memories with her large family.

We’re so grateful to have Sarah as part of the Heritage family!

Lower School said farewell to summer at our first Assembly of the year!

We celebrated our summer birthday Hawks, recognized students for showing kindness, leadership, and care for others, and enjoyed poems, songs, and presentations showcasing what our students have been learning during the first few weeks of school.

We can't believe how much these kids have learned already, and we are already looking forward to the September assembly!

It’s Senior Night at the football game tonight! Our senior leaders recently had the opportunity to speak with the Newnan Rotary Club about the team and their season ahead. We’re so proud of the leadership they continue to show both on and off the field!

Come out tonight to help us celebrate our seniors! Senior Night festivities begin at 7:00 PM, with kickoff at 7:30 PM. Let’s pack the stands and show our seniors some love!

Our 3rd graders recently paid a visit to our neighbors at Coweta County Fire Station #6 for an educational fire safety experience, learning what to do (and what not to do) during a fire.

Firefighter Laland Warren, a 2012 Heritage alum, gave students a firsthand demonstration of how firefighters suit up for a fire. Students also had the opportunity to take turns spraying the fire hose!

Joining us on the tour was Battalion Chief Brian Thompson, who proudly served Coweta County for 39 years and is also the husband of our 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Mary Thompson.

We are so grateful to our local firefighters for taking the time to teach, encourage, and inspire our students!

Happy International Dog Day! With this day in mind, we have to give a very special shout-out to one of our newest “employees” — Holly Jolly!

Holly is a licensed therapy dog who recently retired from her work at a pediatric dentist’s office. You may have seen her in the carpool line or helping a student get to class in good spirits.

Welcome, Holly! We’re glad to have you around. Be sure to say hello and give her a good pet when you see her!

New Faculty Spotlight: Haley Rowland

We’re excited to introduce Haley Rowland, one of our new Upper School English teachers!

Originally from Marietta, Georgia, Haley recently moved to Newnan after spending three years in Scottsdale, Arizona. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Kennesaw State University and is currently pursuing her master’s in Secondary English Education at Georgia College & State University. With a background in corporate marketing and communications, Haley brings a love of storytelling and meaningful connection to her classroom. She is passionate about helping students become confident readers, thoughtful writers, and critical thinkers.

Haley also serves as an assistant varsity football and basketball cheerleading coach. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and exploring Newnan with her Goldendoodle, Jones.

We’re so glad to have Haley as part of the Heritage community!

We’re excited to welcome Alexandra Jaimes to The Heritage School as our new Middle School Spanish Teacher!

Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Alexandra has nearly nine years of experience teaching Spanish to students in grades K–8. She loves helping students discover the joy of learning a new language and all the doors that language can open.

With a background in Business Administration and Advertising, Alexandra brings creativity, communication, and a global perspective to her classroom. She believes learning a language is about more than vocabulary and grammar. It’s a way to explore new cultures, understand different perspectives, and see the world a little differently. Outside of the classroom, Alexandra enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, exploring new cultures, and finding inspiration through art, fashion, and everyday experiences.

We’re so glad to have Alexandra joining the Heritage community !
