GHSA CLASS 5A STATE RUNNER-UP
Congratulations to Northgate High School Softball for finishing as the GHSA Class 5A State Runner Up.
Region 3-5A swept the top three finishers in 2023. Northgate defeated Harris County 10-1, facing elimination for the third consecutive game to reach the finals against defending champion Northside-Columbus.

Congratulations to Coach Lisa Skelton for being one of the inductees into the Georgia Softball Dugout Hall of Fame. We love you coach

Great job tonight. I give glory to God for His grace and mercy. Each of you are given gifts and tonight you all shined. In the field, in the dugout, you did your job. There were so many great things that happened and I’m wore out so not gonna recap but know this .. I love each of you and am so proud , humble , and honored to do battle with you on the field. Elite 8 ladies, let’s bring it home.

Guys I’m proud of you.. even with the scoreboard not in our favor you continued to cheer. That’s winner to me. So update, we could still be second if McIntosh beats Starr’s mill tomorrow but no worse than fourth . As my good friend Hope said, things happen for a reason and we are still in the hunt. Sometimes games happen where it’s not our night. However, saw some individuals step up and do good things. We are the best and I would not want to be on any other team..Love you all

Wow!! I am so humbled and honored by all players and families that came out to celebrate Damon and I. A big shoutout to my daughter Forrest and Damon with coach Carleigh who put it together. It was so good to see players that I coached at Newnan and coaches who have helped me through the years. Mr. Alan Wood my first principal who hired me to teach and coach so many years ago. I think we are both surprised I have lasted so long. Each of you are a part of my heart and soul. I really wanted to go out without a fuss but this was so special. Thank you from the bottom of my heart giving this ole coach a big win today.

Great job last night ladies. Each of you contributed in some form even those in the dugout. Only nine might be on the field but it takes everyone doing their part to get the win. Playing a role in sports can be hard but each player has a task to complete. Preparing for when your number is called can get tiresome and it takes discipline. Try not to dwell on what as an individual you think you deserve but on how you are doing your job for the team. We have a big game today but I leave you with this... I just heard that my uncle passed away and this weekend I visit my aunt who is in hospice.. these are brother and sister to my mom of which passed away two years ago. There is so much more to our lives that the softball field and we forget that sometimes.. We are out here on earth for a fleeting time but while here make it count. For us today it’s this game but regardless of the outcome, life will continue. Do your best today.
