Kristin Langdon Phillips has been selected as Avery County’s 2026 Exceptional Children Educator of Excellence! Kristin was selected because of her outstanding dedication to students and her commitment to supporting the whole child. She consistently goes above and beyond for students—not only meeting their speech and communication needs, but also supporting their social-emotional well-being and helping ensure that every student feels valued, included, and like they belong.

Kristin’s impact reaches far beyond the students on her caseload. She is always willing to help, share resources and strategies with teachers, and advocate for what is best for students. Her compassion, positive spirit, and genuine love for children are evident in everything she does.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Kristin as part of our Avery County Schools family, and I am so proud to recognize her for the difference she makes each day.

As Avery County’s Exceptional Children Educator of Excellence, Kristin will represent Avery County Schools at the Exceptional Children Conference in Greensboro this November.

Please join me in congratulating Kristin on this well-deserved recognition! We are so proud of you, Kristin! 🎉
