Monday afternoon, Newkirk FFA is headed to Indianapolis for the National FFA Convention & Expo! Thousands of FFA members from across the country will gather for competitions, leadership experiences, and national recognition.

This year is especially exciting because Newkirk is competing for TWO national titles!

🏆 National Model of Excellence: Newkirk FFA is one of just 10 high school chapters nationwide selected to compete for FFA's highest chapter honor! Lindsay Vap, Kinley Brown, and Jessica Hobaugh will present and interview with national judges Wednesday.

🌾 National Proficiency Award: Trenton Morton is one of only four national finalists in Fiber and/or Oil Crop Production, recognized for his outstanding agricultural project!

🎡 Week 1 at the Tulsa State Fair is in the books! 💙💛

Newkirk FFA has already had a great start! Several of our members earned high placings with their FFA exhibits, while another group put their skills to the test in the Tulsa State Fair Commercial Cattle Grading Contest! 🐂🏆

We’ll share our complete FFA exhibit results as soon as they become available, but in the meantime, here’s a little fair history! 💡 The Tulsa State Fair got its start all the way back in 1903 as the “Tulsa County Free Fair.” More than 120 years later, agriculture and youth competition continue to be a big part of the tradition — and we’re proud to be part of it!

One week down, one more to go. Bring on Week 2! 🎡🌾💙💛

✈️🇺🇸 TAKE FLIGHT, TIGERS! 🐯🏈

What a way to celebrate Homecoming! Congratulations to our Newkirk Tigers on an AWESOME win over Christian Heritage Academy! 💙💛

This year’s Homecoming theme was “Stars, Stripes & Friday Night Lights,” so Newkirk FFA took to the skies! ✈️ Our members transformed our float into an aircraft carrier, complete with fighter planes, a football headed through the goalposts, and flags representing our U.S. military service branches. 🇺🇸

A HUGE thank you to all of our FFA members who rode the float, waved flags, and cheered on the Tigers throughout the parade! We had so much fun bringing this theme to life and showing off a little Tiger Pride!

🐂 Great day for Newkirk FFA at the Pawhuska Commercial Cattle Grading Contest!

Our cattle graders continue to improve with every contest, and today was another great step forward! Members competed against 290 individuals and 87 teams.

Commercial cattle grading challenges students to evaluate live cattle and make grading decisions based on traits related to carcass value, yield, and marketability.

Hallie Horne — 14th Overall
Cole Vap — 33rd Overall
Kinley Brown — 38th Overall
Piper Brandon — 39th Overall

👏 Two Newkirk teams finished in the Top 25!

17th Overall: Cole Vap, Kinley Brown, Kassidy Sheik & Shafer Shanks

22nd Overall: Hallie Horne, Piper Brandon, Hayden Johnson & Jarrett Dobson

Also competing for Newkirk were Karter Tosh, William Cubbage, Neesa Shelton, and Karsyn Brandt.

Thank you Pawhuska FFA for your hard work in putting on the contest! Congratulations on hosting a successful cattle grading contest!

Great job to all of our members! The improvement from contest to contest is showing, and we’re excited to keep working.

🍕 And of course, we enjoyed a stop at P-Town Pizza for lunch before heading home!

🎯 THANK YOU, CHEROKEE STRIP QUAIL & PHEASANTS FOREVER!

A huge thank you to the Cherokee Strip Pheasants Forever Quail Forever Chapter for donating 10 cases of sh***un shells to the Newkirk FFA Shooting Sports Team!

Chapter President Doug Brown and Gary Jenkins stopped by to deliver the am******on, which will go directly toward helping our students practice and prepare for s***t shooting competitions this year.

We appreciate their continued investment in youth shooting sports, outdoor education, and the next generation of hunters and conservationists! 🧡 Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever have worked to conserve more than 22 million acres of wildlife habitat across North America since 1982.
