NMS Racer Families:

We have noticed traffic backing up onto the main highway and other important roadways during NMS PICK-UP time after school. In an effort to releive traffic congestion and clear the way for any possible emergency vehicle traffic we will be changing our PICK-UP procedures starting this Monday - August 10. There will be no change to morning drop-off, only afternoon PICK-UP.

We ask that you double stack (form two lanes) of cars starting close to the ECC and moving all the way to the east end of the middle school. Traffic direction is still West to East behind the school. Please pull ALL THE WAY to the new yellow gates indicated on the provided map to wait for your car rider. The gates are indicated by the sun symbol on the map provided.

Please watch for student foot traffic as students make their way to cars. As you leave the yellow gate cars will need to zipper into one lane in order to exit onto Walker.

We are hopeful that this will ease city traffic constraints at our PICK-UP time.

Important announcement regarding student meal prices for the upcoming school year.

As we get ready to welcome students back for another school year, we want to share an important update about school meal prices.

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Newcastle Public Schools will make a small adjustment to student meal prices due to rising food and labor costs.

Meal prices for the new school year are:
• Breakfast (All Grades): $2.00
• Elementary Lunch: $3.35
• Secondary Lunch: $3.60

There is no change to reduced-price meal rates. Students who qualify will continue to pay $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch.

We know school meals are an important part of every student's day, and we're committed to continuing to serve nutritious, high-quality meals that help our students grow and thrive.

If your family may qualify for free or reduced-price meals, we encourage you to complete an application before the first day of school. Applications can be submitted through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal or by completing the district's printable application found here: https://www.newcastle.k12.ok.us/ChildNutrition.aspx

The countdown to the first day of school is officially on!

We loved seeing so many new and familiar faces at our Back to School event last night. Parents and students got to to see their classrooms, meet the teachers and make sure they're all set to have a great year at NMS.
