Our dear friend and WP classmate Beverly Buckles Nelson passed away. I'm so glad she attended the last few West Point 8thGr Class of 1961 reunions!
Beverly Louise Nelson, 77, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 9, 1946, in Williamsport, to the late Donald C. Buckles Sr. and Dorothy (White) Buckles. Beverly attended West Point and Southwestern Schools. Her first marriage was to Bud Earl Sanders Sr., and they later divorced. On November 16, 1974, she married Ronald E. Nelson. he passed away on November 27, 2003. Beverly worked in customer service at Kohl's Dept. store for over 32 years.
Beverly enjoyed spending every minute of the time she had with her family, grandchildren, and friends. She loved crocheting for the St. Mary Blessed Threads program. She truly did not know a stranger and was always kind and generous too those in need. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her 4 children, Belinda Kaye Barton, Buddy (Tammy) Sanders, Jr., Bruce (Angie) Sanders, Chris (Karen) Nelson; her sister, Donna Bowyer; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Donald C. Buckles Jr. and Charles R. Buckles, Sr.; a sister, Joyce Loy; and grandson, Jared Barton.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Funeral service 10:00 am, Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 W. 350 North, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
